Stress on the school run is something that no parent needs - and one mum was fed up with getting stared at while she did it.

A mum explained that her kids go to school on a cul de sac, and sometimes, when she collects them at the end of the day she has to turn her car into a private road, as the rest of the road is too congested with other parents picking their children up at the same time.

She shared she simply turns in the road, and she'd never seen anyone else park there either, but when she turns in this man's private road, he 'stands and glares' at her while she does it - and she was baffled by what his motivation was, and was left wondering whether she was being unreasonable.

The woman took to Mumsnet to explain what the man was doing. She said: "There is a large private road literally next door to my kid's primary school which is situated in a cul de sac. The public road gets massively congested in this cul de sac as you can imagine. I have sometimes had no choice but to turn my car on the private road.

"I have never parked there and doing the school run twice a day have never seen anyone else parked up there either. There's a guy who lives in the road who will literally stand and glare at me if I turn the car around in his road on the school run. It's like he comes out of his house specifically at school run times to observe this.

"I know you aren't 'supposed' to put an inch of the nose of your car on a private road. But equally, there's a part of me that thinks if you are that enraged by your private road being used by anyone other than the people that live there, then why would you buy a house directly next door to a school in a cul de sac with no other turning options? Am I being an a***hole? Or is this man overly precious?"

In the comments, 61% of people claimed the woman was being unreasonable on the poll, despite the fact that many commented to back her up. One wrote: "I think it's over precious and would agree about buying a house near a school."

But someone else fumed: "A private road means that the residents pay for it and its upkeep. It won't just be you 'forced; to do a quick turn on their property, it'll be 20+ people a day who are causing wear and tear damage that they are contributing towards. It does matter and he isn't being precious." Another pointed out: "Most primary schools are within walking distance of kids homes."

Another Mumsnet user slammed: "Don't do it. It's not your property to encroach upon", with someone else agreeing, as they wrote: "So you wouldn't do it if it wasn't next to a school, but because it is, you do? And the homeowners are being precious and should have to expect and put up with it because they bought near a school? People can justify behaviours relating to what they want!"
