We've all had takeaway orders that have come with incorrect items, but one mum was left 'in tears' at her daughter's misfortune.

McDonald's is a delicious treat, and whether you order in store, or get it delivered to your door. But mistakes can be made when you're placing your order - and you may not realise it until you're about to tuck into the meal you've been looking forward to all week.

One fuming mum named Karen took to X, formerly Twitter, under the username @kazzydoodah, to reveal a recent takeaway blunder. She explained that her daughter had had "such a bad day" that they decided to order a delicious Maccies "in for tea." But things only got worse when it arrived.

She wrote: "We've had such a bad day we decided to order in for tea. My daughter ordered it on her app and when selecting her burger, added extra pickles but it seems to have dropped the whole burger so all they sent her was 8 slices of pickle in a box and I am crying laughing."

Sharing a picture of her receipt, mum Karen showed that somehow, only pickles had been selected on the order. The bun had bizarrely been taken off, three lots of cheese had been removed, and the meat patty had been cast aside, all in favour of eight gherkins from the fast food chain.

In the comments of the post, Karen continued: "Three quid for eight slices of gherkin. I am dead." She then jibed: "I'm going to get her a T-shirt made with '8 pickles' on it."

Another takeaway fan replied to share that they'd had "a similar ordeal", but their McDonald's order contained nothing in it - literally. There was no cheese, no beef patty, and no bun according to the fuming customer. Karen asked: "Did you just get an empty box?"

The Mirror has contacted McDonald's for comment.
