Princess Kate's uncle Gary Goldsmith has made an explosive television debut on ITV's reboot of Celebrity Big Brother - and it's likely to have raised eyebrows in royal circles.

The Royal Family is in the midst of a challenging period, with both King Charles and the Princess of Wales off-duty as they deal with health issues, leaving the number of working royals seriously depleted.

The 58-year-old businessman is known for his candour, something that the Windsor's would likely prefer not to be broadcast to the nation at this time.

One blunt revelation about Gary's personal habits could well have left the polished royals cringing, and depending on how long the younger brother of Carole Middleton makes it in the CBB house, there may be more of these embarrassing moments to come.

The dubious habit that Gary admitted to in glorious technicolour was that he has been known to forget to wash, explaining: "I have to be reminded to have a shower by my missus so I might stink out the house. I need to keep reminding myself to have a shower!"

The Royal Family - and Kate in particular - are known for being incredibly well-coiffed, presenting themselves in as picture-perfect a manner as possible as they go about their official engagements. The Princess of Wales is rarely seen with a hair out of place, and formality and the monarchy go hand in hand, so this latest revelation from her uncle stands in stark contrast to her nature.

Gary also said that his cooking skills leave a lot to be desired and might not please his housemates, "I'm really bad at cooking and anything I cook ends up brown. But you know that moment you just have to leave things be and just wait. It's like, I wonder if I put Tabasco in it, it'd be better. And so my wife reminded me not to cook because it'll end up brown, even if it's a salad. So just leave it alone G! So I've been kind of warned off from doing that. I won't win friends".

Gary has already been outspoken about some of his niece's in-laws - particularly Prince Harry and Meghan - but has spoken about Kate herself in nothing less than glowing terms, saying she is "the most perfectly perfect person and I'm really, really, really, really proud of her".
