Simon Cowell bursts into tears as he's overcome with emotion at charity event
Simon Cowell became emotional during a recent charity event, leading him to burst into tears.
The former X Factor judge, who's known for his no-nonsense persona, attended the recent Together For Short Lives ball with his fiancée Lauren Silverman. But Simon, 64, said he "couldn't talk" as he became overwhelmed while encouraging people to support the charity organisation.
London-born Simon is a patron of the charity which raises vital funds for palliative care for children who are fighting life-threatening conditions. But as he encouraged punters to part ways with their cash to help the charity, Simon's emotions got the better of him.
"So, I can't talk," he said, adding in a video obtained by the Daily Mail: "So we discussed doing something slightly different previously we've asked people to stand up and pledge £1,000." The music mogul dressed smart for his outing, rocking a black suit with a white shirt, famously with several buttons undone, adding a pair of sunglasses to his striking look.
Meanwhile, his fiancée Lauren looked sensational in a sleek black gown which wrapped perfectly around her figure. Simon and Lauren were joined by the likes of his pal Lizzie Cundy, as well as Claire Sweeney, Vanessa Feltz and Kelsey Parker. Their outing comes just days after an unrecognisable snap of Simon emerged.
Simon Cowell set on fire by Britain's Got Talent hopeful in terrifying stuntOver the course of his time on TV, since being a judge on Pop Idol in 2001, he's had short hair. He however previously had a longer hairstyle. Various photos of Simon from earlier in his career have resurfaced in recent years, including some of him with his now ex-partner Sinitta, now 60. One shows the pair stood beside each other at an undisclosed special occasion, with the photo in question believed to date back to 1984.
Simon is seen wearing a grey suit, including a red tie and matching floral lapel. He sports much longer than in more recent years and appears to be holding an order of service. Sinitta - who rose to fame as a singer a few years later - was stood beside him, modelling a white top and skirt.
Last year, Simon's previous appearance was mentioned on an episode of Britain's Got Talent (BGT). Simon has been a judge on the ITV show - which returns later this year for its new series - since it launched on the channel in 2007.
During an episode in the last series, Amanda Holden, now 53, announced that fellow judge Bruno Tonioli, now 68, had made her aware that Simon used to have shoulder-length hair. Amanda seemed surprised by the discovery. She was heard telling her co-star on the panel: "Bruno was saying today that you used to have shoulder-length hair." Simon responded: "I did!" His colleague teased that she would research it, with her saying: "I wanna see that." Simon encouraged against that, replying: "Oh please don't."
