Princess of Wales fans saying the same thing as she recovers from surgery
Royal fans are all saying the same thing on social media as rumours about the Princess of Wales' health continue to swirl.
The Princess, 42, has not been seen publicly since undergoing "planned major abdominal surgery" last month, which took place at the London Clinic on January 16. The surprise news was magnified by an announcement just an hour later that King Charles would receive treatment for an enlarged prostate.
ITV's Good Morning Britain (GMB) shared a poll on their X, formerly Twitter, page asking if the Palace should address rumours surrounding Catherine's health. Her retreat from the public eye has sparked many conspiracy theories, with GMB asking the question on their X account: "As conspiracy theories continue to grow online should the palace explain Princess Kate's illness?"
In a new statement last week, a royal spokesperson said: "Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the Princess’s recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates. That guidance stands." The spokesperson reiterated the princess is "doing well." They have still said nothing more about what specific medical procedure she has had, leading to lots of rumours.
But the results of GMB's poll show a striking divide over the prospect of a Royal Family announcement, as 42.8 percent said yes while the majority, 57.2 percent, opted for no, with many royal fans calling for Kate to be left in peace as she recovers. It comes after the Palace clarifying that she is continuing to do "well" after the planned operation last week.
Kate Middleton swears by £19.99 rosehip oil that helps 'reduce wrinkles & scars'Kensington Palace previously said the surgery was successful and did not say anything on her diagnosis or prognosis, other than that her condition was "not cancerous." One commented on the poll: "Why can’t she be ill in private??? How would everyone knowing what is wrong help her? Leave her to get better!!"
Another added: "She will be back when she has recovered, she’s ok and at home what else do we need to know?", while a third said: "Never - none of anyone's business." One account pointed out: "No the palace don't have to explain Princess Kate's illness. And they did say at the beginning that, Princess Kate will most probably won't be available till Easter."
Meanwhile, lots of other fans wished a speedy recovery for Kate, with one writing: "Best wishes and get well soon." Meanwhile, another chimed in: "People really miss her - get well soon Kate."
In a statement released the day after Kate's operation Kensington Palace said: "The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for 10 to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.
"The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private. Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share."
Kensington Palace has been approached for comment.
