Saturday Night Takeaway was thrown into chaos this weekend - as footage from the phone of a crew member started to play on screen leaving hosts Ant and Dec alarmed.

The weekly game show kicked off on Saturday night with 48-year-old hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly inviting a huge live studio audience into their sphere to compete in a variety of games for a string of impressive prizes. Comedian Matt Lucas took part on the show to be the guest voice over for the night - and he was also drafted in to play one of the games.

Matt, 49, was part of a segment called “What Am I”. In this segment, a trio of audience members were invited down to the stage to take part as contestants. Matt stood in front of a huge screen with his own face projected behind him. A graphic was then added to his face to give him a variety of disguises - and the contestants had to describe what he looked like without directly stating what he looked like.

Ant and Dec explained the rules to the contestants, with Ant saying: “We’re going to put a series of TikTok effects on Matt’s face here.” Dec said: “You need to describe what Matt has been transformed into and all he has to do is guess what he is.”

Ant then warned: “But there’s a list of banned words you’re not allowed to use. If you use a banned word, we will change the effect on Matt’s face and move on.”

A contestant called Sarah took to the floor for the challenge - but then disaster struck. The screen behind Matt suddenly changed and showed images of a car, a variety of car logos, a random TikTok account, and then footage of someone dancing. The cameras urgently cut to Ant and Dec who looked alarmed by what they could still see on the screen.

Dec exclaimed: “One second, we’re resetting. Hang on a minute… we don’t want that?” And a worried Ant cried: “Whose account is this, by the way? We don’t need that! We need to be careful here!” The technical slip up carried on for several seconds before the incident was resolved and the presenters could carry on with the game and the show.

Saturday Night Takeaway is filmed live. On Saturday night, the show included another section where audience members could win VIP tickets to the BRIT Awards - taking place immediately after Saturday Night Takeaway aired. Viewers just had to identify where Jordan North was hiding and track him down. Three contestants were then selected from the huge crowd who then showed up - and they then dressed up as cows.

The contestants then nervously posed underneath suspended buckets - with two set to be covered in muck and one covered in lucky milk. The ‘lucky cow’ then won the coveted tickets and were whisked immediately off to London’s glittering O2 Arena to watch the glitzy music awards show - which Dua Lipa kicked off with a sizzling performance of her song Training Season.

Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway continues its last ever season on Saturday nights on ITV and via ITVX at 7pm.
