Peter Andre straps melons to his chest to empathise with pregnant wife
Peter Andre baffled and amused his fans as he strapped a number of melons to his body for a personal experiment.
The 50-year-old father-of-four will soon be a father-of-five as his wife, Emily MacDonagh, 34, is expecting their third child together - while he shares two teenage children with ex-wife Katie Price, 45. Emily’s pregnancy is progressing and her baby bump is now very clear.
In an attempt to empathise with the changes Emily has experienced to her body, Pete strapped a number of melons to his body in order to experience how pregnancy can feel. He shared highlights from his experiment in a video that he shared with fans via social media.
Uploading the footage online, Peter wrote: “What a melon.” The female TikTok voice announced at the beginning of the video: “Watermelon Challenge!” Footage then show’s Peter having a number of melons strapped to him. He poses with a watermelon that he has strapped to his belly via clingfilm.
He also held two Casaba melons on his chest which were also strapped in place with clingfilm and said: “Emily’s bump is pretty small. And even though these melons might be slightly exaggerated, the ratio of melon to bump is I think we’re quite spot on in a way.”
Greggs, Costa & Pret coffees have 'huge differences in caffeine', says reportAfter the fruits were put in place, Peter moaned: “Oh no. One of them is lopsided.” The footage then showed him lounging around his home and getting into a car with the melons stuck on him. Peter struggled to make his way around with the extra weight and complained that he has cramp. His patience ran out several hours later and he declared: “I’d be done. I would be absolutely done. I’m not doing that,” as he struggled to fill a dishwasher while carrying out his experiment.
The experiment sparked a mixed response from Peter’s followers - with his 18-year-old son Junior, who he shares with ex-wife Katie, being left perplexed by the sight of his father with the fruit strapped to him. He wrote in response to the video: “Imagine walking downstairs to your dad with melons strapped to himself,” along with a line of crying-with-laughter emojis.
Another follower thought it was a great experiment for men to understand what being pregnant would feel like. The impressed fan wrote: “More men should do this. See how it feels they may help more.” But another felt Peter hadn’t taken on enough of a challenge, and suggested: “Strap on kid on a hip, now try to cook, do laundry and clean, then go to work, try to run errands and maybe get some sleep but wake up to pee every hour.”
Peter and Emily announced their third pregnancy back in October, sharing an announcement via Instagram which stated: "We are delighted to share the news with you all. A new addition to our family in 2024." The couple are already parents to a son named Theo, seven, and a daughter named Millie, nine.
