Take That's Gary Barlow unveils change to gigs after being inspired by U2
Take That star, Gary Barlow, has revealed a major change to the band's gigs.
The Back For Good star, 53, made the decision to revamp the format after watching U2, fronted by Irish star, Bono, perform in the Sphere, Las Vegas. So impressed was he with the rock stars' show at the state-of-the-art entertainment arena, Gary has decided to emulate their incredible big-screen graphics at his own concerts.
Speaking about U2's gig before Take That, including Mark Owen and Howard Donald, kick off their This Life On Tour shows in Sheffield on April 13, Gary told the Mirror: “When the screen came on, 18,000 people breathed in. Things like the Sphere, or headsets and VR are going to move our music on. Imagine coming to our gig and everyone’s got those goggles on… that’s where I think the improvements are going to come."
The U2 x Las Vegas Sphere show took two years to create and will rake in more than £200million. Gary, who revealed Take That have been in talks for their own Vegas residency, added: “We’ve been listening to music a long time, then we had videos to accompany the music. What’s next? I think experiences are going to get bigger.”
The stars will begin a six-month, 72-date tour in April in support of latest album This Life . However, Gary says he is the “class bore” as he can’t handle late nights or boozing like bandmates Mark, 52, and Howard, 55. Speaking about his wish for the latest gigs, he said: “I want to be 150% on stage. The others are in better physical shape than me.”
Take That's Howard has so many cars he's run out of room to store them allSomeone who won't be joining the trio on stage when they set off on tour in April is former bandmate, Jason Orange. The singer was spotted looking in great shape in a rare public sighting earlier this month after shocking fans when he quit Take That 10 years ago.
Jason has since stepped away from the public eye and now lives "off-grid" in his hideaway Cotswold country home. However, he was spotted out and about in London on February 7 as he wrapped up against the cold, strolling around Hampstead in a Dry Robe with a grey hoodie, scarf, beanie and a pair of rather fetching fluffy mittens.
At the time of Jason's departure from the group, he explained that there had been "no falling out", insisting he simply didn't want to be in the band anymore. However, he is said to rarely keep in touch with his former bandmates - Gary, Howard, Mark and Robbie Williams.
"I don't know where he is. He's difficult to get hold of," star Howard said. "I believe that's the way he wants it," he told The Sun. While Gary told the Metro: "We hear from Jason now and again. Then when you reply the email doesn’t work."
