Bill Belichick's NFL-related plan teased by his son Steve with options on table
Bill Belichick's son has hinted that his dad, the former New England Patriots head coach, might be considering a move into broadcasting now that no NFL team has hired him this offseason.
Bill Belichick left his role at Gillette Stadium earlier this year, ending one of the most famous partnerships in sports history. Since Tom Brady divorced from Belichick and the Patriots in 2019, the team hasn't been able to match their previous success, leaving owner Robert Kraft with a tough decision to make about the head coach.
In the end, Belichick lost his job due to the Patriots' decline. But his place in NFL history was already secure before he left. The successful partnership between Brady and Belichick, which saw them win six Super Bowls together over two decades, is one of the most celebrated in football history.

Belichick's son Steve spoke to Chris Long on the Green Light podcast about how his father is dealing with leaving the Patriots. He said: "I think he's good," and shared his dad's motto: "Let the stuff roll off your back and move forward."
Joe Burrow backs Patrick Mahomes after Kansas City Chiefs reach Super Bowl"He doesn't dwell unless we lost the game and need to get on some guys, but eventually, you've got to turn the page," he said, offering some insight into the mindset of Bill Belichick. He went on: "Definitely pursuing some other stuff whether it's TV or a regular on the Green Light or whatever it may be."
His son Steve talked about the possibility of his dad, the former Patriots coach, appearing more often on TV shows in the future. He even shared a fun story about his dad wearing a helmet on ESPN's "College GameDay" last December.
"Putting on the helmet and stuff like that, he does silly things a lot but no one ever sees it," Steve recalled, talking about his dad showing a funnier side than usual. "And so I was happy that people at least saw a better side of him that not a lot of people see."
It seems that the 71 year old is popular when it comes to analysis and has a few options on the table. Pat McAfee, a former NFL punter who now hosts a show streamed on ESPN, has said he wants to have him on his programme regularly. In the past, he admitted he's doing "his best to get Bill Belichick on this program," hoping for appearances "at least once a week going forward".
Despite leaving his role of 24 seasons in January, Bill Belichick's son believes that his dad's passion for football remains strong. Steve described his father's dedication to the sport, saying: "His hobbies would still be to, let's say, critique football."
"So he was excited when I came out here because he got to evaluate the scheme last year, evaluate the players last year, and I'm sure he'll come out here at some point to do some stuff. But the guy just loves football."
Since leaving the Patriots, Belichick has been linked with several NFL jobs. However, no official agreement has been made for a new role in 2024. The experienced coach had serious talks with the Atlanta Falcons, even interviewing twice for their head coach position. In the end, the job went to Raheem Morris.
