Gary Oldman has probably had better days as he was left facing the pouring rain in London following the breakdown of the black cab he was riding in.

The 65-year-old Hollywood legend is in the capital to continue filming a new series of Apple TV+ thriller series 'Slow Horses', which has proved to be a critical success and was nominated for five BAFTAs, winning two of them. Gary plays Jackson Lamb in the comedy spy drama.

Gary's luck ran out on Thursday when his black cab broke down and left him facing the elements, with just a jacket and scarf to help protect him from the rain. Fortunately, an umbrella came to hand reasonably quickly and Gary was full of smiles when he was handed the opportunity to shelter from the downpour.

The success of Slow Horses comes amid Gary giving an honest opinion of his turn in the Harry Potter franchise, in which he described his portrayal of Sirius Black as "mediocre" and that he could have done more with the role. He has admitted that he wishes he had at least read the books to get a better sense of his character, like co-star Alan Rickman, who played Professor Snape. But although he looks back with regret, he admits the film came at the right time for him, as he was going through a messy divorce.

Speaking on the podcast, Happy Sad Confused, with Josh Horowitz Gary confessed: "I think my work is mediocre in it." Comparing himself to late Harry Potter star Rickman, who died in January 2016, he added: "Maybe if I had read the books like Alan, if I had got ahead of the curve, if I had known what's coming, I honestly think I would have played it differently."

There were personal factors at the time that may have distracted him from giving the performance he felt was more worthy of the role, as Gary was in the process of ending his dysfunctional marriage to model Donya Fiorentino, in which he was granted full custody of the couple's children.

Speaking on The Drew Barrymore Show, Gary said: "Thank God for Harry Potter. I tell you, the two — Batman and Harry Potter — really, they saved me, because it meant that I could do the least amount of work for the most amount of money and then be home with the kids."
