Time to ditch your Fire TV Stick as Roku offers free content Amazon can't match

Amazon's Fire TV Stick remains one of the most popular streaming devices on the planet but there's a very good reason to consider switching to something new. Rival brand Roku has just announced that it's offering all new and existing users the chance to grab a whole three months of Apple TV+ without paying a penny for the privilege.

For those not already aware, Apple TV+ is a little like Netflix with users paying a monthly fee to watch original box sets and movies. It first launched back in 2019 and has since gone on to produce award-winning content including the heart-warming film Coda and football comedy Ted Lasso which returns to screens on March 14 for the hotly anticipated season 3.

Apple TV+ usually costs £6.99 per month but Roku owners will get things completely free until the summer.

That's a pretty epic offer which saves users over £20 and it's something that Amazon's Fire TV Sticks can't currently match as although owners can access the Apple app on their devices they do need to pay the £6.99 fee to tune in.

"Apple TV+ is home to the top storytellers, featuring Oscar-winning films, Emmy-winning shows, groundbreaking documentaries, kids’ entertainment, and more — with exclusive new Apple Originals added every month," explains Roku on its deals page. "Plus, when you sign up in the Apple TV channel on your Roku device, you get three months free."

The deal is available until May 7 and is only open to those who have not subscribed to the platform before.

If you don't own a Roku Stick or Media Player you'll find things start from £29.99 for the basic model. This device only offers standard HD streaming and doesn't include access to the Alexa or Google Assistant.

Those wanting something more powerful might want to opt for the Roku Streaming Stick 4K which offers stunning Ultra HD playback - which means a more pixel-packed image - plus there is full voice search support.

For the ultimate experience, there is also the Roku Streambar which features an in-built speaker which helps boost the sound of your TV. This device also includes access to most popular services such as Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video.
