Danny Dyer drops huge EastEnders bombshell over Mick Carter's return

EastEnders fans' excitement has raised a few levels after Danny Dyer dropped a huge hint that he may be returning to Albert Square as Mick Carter.

The 46-year-old actor has been pictured filming the Football Factory sequel in recent weeks but hopes are raised that a return to Walford with an Instagram comment that was seen by eagle-eyed soap fans. Danny played Mick for nearly a decade and made the character one of the most iconic in the BBC soap's history.

Mick seemingly drowned when he jumped into the sea to save his ex-wife Linda Carter, played by Kellie Bright, who had found her way to safety unbeknown to Mick. There is now a glimmer of hope that the former Queen Vic landlord actually survived and could be returning to Albert Square.

Kellie, 47, shared a behind the scenes snap on her social media, as she posed in full dress and make-up of her character Linda. The one addition was a t-shirt which referenced the high-profile Christmas storyline, which read: "I killed Keanu." Kellie then added a comment which delighted her followers: "So what this? Er, yeah. I just, I liked it and I thought I'd get it. You know when you see something and you think that is so me. That is so me that top. I just had to have it."

Among the hundreds of comments on the post was Danny who posted a hint that Mick could be coming back. He commented: "Oh L….Bring Mick back. [broken heart emoji]." This brought 3,000 likes for his comment as fans scrambled to share their joy that he could be coming back.

One replied to the comment with: "@officialdannydyer The only comment that matters! x." While another added that Linda needs Mick back at her side: "We want you back Danny L needs her Mick." A third went as far as suggesting how Mick could make his Walford return: "Yes , please bring Mick back...he could have easily washed up unconscious on Whitstable beach with Amnesia...Come on, they brought Dirty Den out of the canal...Xxx ."

Danny has said previously about the show: "Anything is possible. Where would he have gone to? He can't swim. I found it a bit odd." Chris Clenshaw, the show's executive producer, has in the past made fans think Mick might still be around somewhere. He said earlier this year: "It's a soap, anything can happen! There wasn't a body so there's every chance, will Mick rock back up in Walford in a few years covered in seaweed? Will he be the dead body at Christmas?"
