One woman is on a mission to fully embrace her "womanhood" even when people stare at her in public.

Aria Loca, 34, who proudly flaunts her hairy legs and armpits, says men can't get enough of her bushy pins. The body positive woman is "sick" of society dictating women should be hairless in order to please others.

People may be stunned by her low-maintenance look in real life, but online, Aria says that she receives many messages from people professing their love for her hairy legs and armpits.

Aria, from Mexico, said that she thought it was "rebellious and badass" to see other women "showing off their body hair", so she wanted to do the same thing.

"A lot of us don't realise we've been getting brainwashed since birth to fit societal norms", she shared. "Women with smooth, hairless skin are plastered everywhere and that's what we think women should look like. I was [once] in a relationship with someone that wasn't into it. I kept shaving to please them but I would never do that now.

"If they can't fully accept me, they're not for me, I'm not for them. My [TikTok] page has always been centred around my body hair and [now] I get comments from men every day saying how much they love hairy legs and armpits on women."

Aria, who works as an electrical journeywoman, first started growing out her body hair at 21, and was inspired by musician Patti Smith's Easter album cover - which features the singer showing off her hairy armpits. She now believes that her friends envy her confidence because they wish they could embrace body hair in the same way she has.

She said: "I have received some comments from friends saying they wish they could stop shaving like me, but they're too scared of what others will say. No one truly enjoys shaving but they do it for others, it doesn't really make sense."

Aria often shares her passion for body hair on TikTok, via her page @vivalahippieloca, and she does receive some "negative comments", but said she knows there will "always be haters."

"I don't really think much about what other people may think. I enjoy spreading awareness though and like to think I could be changing perspectives, just like mine was changed. I may get some stares in public but I've never had a negative comment in person. I think people should embrace their body in general more", Aria said.

She also said that hair is "there for a reason", adding "we're all beautiful the way we are." Aria said: "I love embracing my womanhood by embracing my body hair."
