Prince Edward tried his hand at table tennis during a visit to a youth centre in London today.

The Duke of Edinburgh - the younger brother of King Charles, Princess Anne and Prince Andrew - also took part in music production and dropped in on an art lesson at the Salmon Youth Centre in Bermondsey on Wednesday.

The 59-year-old royal sported an open collar and a double-breasted blazer as he took on a youngster at the ping pong table. He was also snapped chatting to other young people at the centre, which was established over a century ago.

Edward is 14th in line to the throne and is often one of the busiest members of the Firm - last year racking up 297 engagements, putting him third behind only the King and Princess Royal.

Yesterday, he visited Oxford as part of a cultural trip, arriving with an entourage of police and Range Rovers at the Story Museum before spending time with kids from several different local schools. He had last visited the museum in 2012.

With Charles currently undergoing cancer treatment and Princess Kate recovering from surgery, other members of the Firm are likely to have to help carry the load.

It is unclear exactly how much more the likes of Edward will be expected to do - though heir to the throne William has already allegedly rebuffed the idea of brother Prince Harry returning on a temporary basis. The Prince of Wales is understood to be keen to shoulder any extra responsibility left in the King's absence himself.

It comes as Edward and wife Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh's conjugal coat of arms was spotted online shortly after a royal crest on Harry and Meghan's new website caused a stir.

On Monday, Edward and Sophie's joint coat of arms was spied in the Linking Environment and Farming Education (LEAF) 2023 Impacts Report on social media platform X.

Sophie, 59, is the honorary president of the organisation that supports sustainable food and farming and penned a message about LEAF's work over the last year. The couple's coat of arms features two shields under a coronet.

Harry and Meghan's crest needs an update following King Charles' accession to the throne in 2022. But aside from that, author Hugo Vickers told the Telegraph the Sussexes should not be exploiting their royal connections by using the coat of arms on newly launched Sussex.com.

He highlighted Haldsbury’s Laws of England, which state that the Royal arms should not be used “in connection with any business, trade, calling, or profession in such a manner as to be calculated to lead to the belief that he is authorised so to do”.
