Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent some quality time with Canadian crooner Michael Buble on their latest trip, and their blossoming friendship is down to an unlikely source.

As the Sussexes got closer to the singer and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, details of their growing friendship emerged - and it's thanks to Meghan's former BFF Jessica Mulroney. Meghan and Michael were first introduced in November 2015, five years before the former actress' friendship with Jessica hit the rocks.

Jessica and Meghan's friendship was so tight that her three kids acted as a flowergirl and pageboys at the wedding of Meghan and Harry. Prior to their marriage, Meghan detailed her meeting with Michael on her former blog titled The Tig. She gushed over the "delightful guy" and said he was "one hell of a dinner companion".

At the time of the first meeting, Jessica shared an image of her and her husband Ben alongside Meghan and Michael and labelled the snap a "solid dinner crew". A year later and Meghan once again mentioned the Feeling Good singer and described how he had created a playlist on her blog.

She wrote at the time: "'This proud papa, husband to the lovely Luisana Lopilato, and certifiably delightful guy, makes for one hell of a dinner companion. But there’s this other thing about him that is perhaps worth mentioning. Oh right. He sings."

And Michael's singing career is said to have been given a major boost thanks to a performance by him at the wedding of Ben's sister. Songwriter and producer David Foster was one of the guests at the service and is said to have been impressed by his voice so set up a meeting between the singer and Warner Bros.

Fast forward to last week and the Sussexes, singer and his wife were spotted having fun at a hurling event in the run-up to next year's Invictus Games. Michael also serenaded the audience at the closing dinner with his own unique rendition of Frank Sinatra's My Way.

In the changed lyrics, he playfully took aim at the prince. Michael’s alternative version of the tune began with a sweet reference to Meghan’s nickname for her husband, as he sang: “She calls him H, we call him Harry.” The 42-year-old then touched the side of his face when Michael crooned: “It's true, Harry it's you. Your follow through opens hope's doorway.”

But they both laughed when the chart-topping musician sang: “When passions flow, one thing we know, stay the hell out of your way.” Meghan gently rubbed her husband’s back and shoulder as she and the other guests laughed at the risque lyric, which could be a reference to his explosive memoir Spare that was released last year.
