Aides reportedly stopped Prince Harry from joining the King at Sandringham after he flew across the Atlantic to see his father because they feared “they’d never get rid of him”.

The Duke of Sussex spent just 26 hours in the UK after he flew over to see his father after the King called to tell him the shocking news that he had cancer.

According to an anonymous source, reported in the Sun on Sunday, Harry had been hoping to have a long heart-to-heart with his father, and join Charles for a few days at Sandringham where was recovering from cancer treatment.

However the “palace insider” said that after Harry landed at Heathrow on February 6, he was told not to head to Norfolk, where the King, 75, was planning to spend time with Queen Camilla, 76, at Sandringham.

Instead Charles delayed his trip to meet with Harry at Clarence House in London, according to the source, this was because palace aides were worried they would “never get rid of him” if Harry went with the King to Sandringham.

“Harry came over to see his father, expecting to go to Sandringham. But instead he was asked to be at Clarence House and was restricted to 30 minutes,” the insider told the Sun. “The fear was that if he went to Sandringham they would never get rid of him.”

As it was Harry met with the King at Clarence House for around 30 minutes before leaving, shortly afterwards his father, the King and Queen made their way by Bentley to a helicopter in the Buckingham Palace gardens before flying to Sandringham. Harry reportedly spent the night in a hotel.

The Duke of Sussex sat down for a tell-all interview with Good Morning America yesterday (February 16), speaking to host Will Reeve Harry said: "Look I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him I'm grateful for that."

GMA's Will Reeve then spoke of how the King's ill-health might have a "reunifying effect" on the family amid the ongoing feud, to which Harry responded with "I'm sure" before saying: "Throughout all these families I see it on a day-to-day basis the strength of the family unit coming together. I think any illness, any sickness brings families together."

Then, touching on possibly returning to his homeland of the United Kingdom soon, Harry told Will: "So my family and my life in California is as it is. I have got other trips planned. That would take me through the UK or back to the UK, so you know, I'll stop in and see my family as much as I can."
