Following cooking instructions on packaging is relatively easy - or so we thought.

However, a woman has stunned people with her oven revelation. After a long day, sometimes the last thing you want to be doing is standing over the stove and cooking a meal with lots of preparation. Often, just warming some food up in the oven can be a lifesaver for a quick and filling meal, involving little work.

We often see the likes of 'Cook for 30 minutes and turn halfway through' on the packaging of supermarket food products, but do you know what this instruction really means? Some say it means flipping the food over, others say they give their food "a shake". But, they soon realise it is neither after TikTok user named Bea, stunned people who are "so mad" they have been following cooking instructions wrong for years.

Bea was cooking a meal at home on Valentine's Day this year when she realised where she had been going wrong. She showed a clip of herself checking on some chips she was cooking; she needed to turn them over halfway through. She turned each chip over one by one.

But Bea said: "This is the first time I considered that this isn't what the bag means by turn halfway through cooking." A number of people rushed to comment on the issue, with a number realising the instructions mean to turn to the tray instead of the food item.

One individual wrote: "Wait, are we supposed to turn the tray?" One stunned individual said: "I'm so mad right now, are you serious? How did I not realise?"

"What? I was supposed to turn the pan around and not the product," another wowed individual added.

"I used to flip every pizza roll over I never knew what it meant," said another. Another individual commented: "I only knew this when I worked at a bakery and had to rotate the pans halfway through for even heating. It all made sense then."

But a number of people pointed out that thanks to the air fryer craze, people cooking food items like chips do not have to worry about what the oven instructions really mean.
