Rye Lane

In the vibrant backdrop of South London, two young adults grappling with heartbreak Yas (played by Vivian Oparah) and Dom (portrayed by David Jonsson), cross paths. Their chance encounter blossoms into a journey of mutual support and rediscovery as they navigate the complexities of post-breakup life. Throughout an eventful day, they bond over shared experiences, offering each other solace amid the chaos of their respective failed relationships. As they lean on one another for comfort and understanding, Yas and Dom find themselves on the brink of restoring their belief in love, proving that hope and connection can still thrive even in turmoil.

Fire Island

Drawing inspiration from Jane Austen's enduring masterpiece, Pride and Prejudice, this tale revolves around two inseparable friends, portrayed by Joel Kim Booster and Bowen Yang. Together, they embark on a quest for an unforgettable summer escapade, fueled by inexpensive rosé and their diverse group of companions.

Titanic

James Cameron's epic Titanic really is a timeless masterpiece, and one that captivated audiences worldwide. Plus it clinched an astonishing 11 Academy Awards, including notably Best Picture. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet deliver memorable performances in this, igniting the screen with their portrayal of a love both forbidden and courageous. Set against the backdrop of the ill-fated maiden voyage of the 'unsinkable' Titanic, this unforgettable tale unfolds with a blend of romance and resilience that transcends the test of time.

Romeo & Juliet

In this modern retelling, Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes take on the iconic roles of timeless star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet. However, rather than the traditional Elizabethan setting, their story is set against the futuristic urban landscape of Verona Beach. Well worth a watch.

Moulin Rouge

Enticed by curiosity, an idealistic poet (played by Ewan McGregor) finds himself lured into the vibrant yet shadowy realm of a certain Parisian nightclub - the titular Moulin Rouge. Within its intoxicating embrace, he discovers a world teeming with allure, where sensuality, intoxicants, and electrifying energy intertwine to create a seductive haven pulsating with life. Nicole Kidman also stars in this Baz Luhrmann masterpiece that looks simply stunning and boasts a phenomenally good soundtrack.

West Side Story

Steven Spielberg's masterful retelling of the classic tale. Set in 1957, the Jets, a group of white teenagers, clash with the Puerto Rican Sharks in a battle for dominance over San Juan Hill in Manhattan's Upper West Side. NYPD Lieutenant Schrank attempts to reason with the gangs, emphasising the futility of their conflict as the neighbourhood is slated for demolition to accommodate the construction of Lincoln Center.

10 Things I Hate About You

On his inaugural day at a new school, Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) finds himself smitten with Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), the stunning girl who captures his heart. However, a significant obstacle arises: Bianca is off-limits for dating ... until her fiercely independent and seemingly unapproachable older sister Kat (Julia Stiles) starts dating as well.

The Proposal

Faced with the looming threat of deportation back to Canada, a high-powered book editor takes a bold stance by declaring that she is engaged to her long-suffering assistant, whom she has relentlessly teased and challenged for years.

Pretty Woman

When the street-smart Vivian (portrayed by Julia Roberts) crosses paths with wealthy businessman Edward (played by Richard Gere), they find themselves inhabiting vastly different worlds. Yet, Vivian's lively demeanour and unconventional outlook on life begin to chip away at Edward's rigid, no-nonsense facade. As they embark on a journey of mutual discovery, they become unexpected teachers to each other, and amid the lessons learned, a tender love blossoms between them.

27 Dresses

Discontent as her little sister prepares to marry the man she's always dreamed of, a perennial bridesmaid finds herself drawn to a cynical wedding journalist assigned to cover the event. As they navigate the festivities together, sparks fly between them, leading to an unexpected romance that challenges their beliefs about love and marriage.

Amélie

Though ensnared in her whimsical imagination, Amélie, a young waitress, resolves to spread happiness to those around her. In her quest, she embarks on a transformative journey, ultimately discovering true love amid her altruistic endeavours. Working in a Parisian café, Amélie leads a solitary life, yet quietly aids others, weaving her magic behind the scenes.

Rosaline

A comedic reinterpretation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, narrated from the perspective of Rosaline, Romeo's spurned former lover. Rosaline, whom Romeo initially professes his love for before meeting Juliet, takes centre stage in this humorous reimagining.

The Fault in Our Stars

Hazel (played by Shailene Woodley) and Gus (played by Ansel Elgort) are united by their sharp wit, contempt for the mundane, and a love that propels them into an unforgettable odyssey. Despite the hurdles they encounter as teenagers, they come to realise that although life may lack perfection, the love they share is undeniably extraordinary.

If any of these movies don't float your boat, there are plenty of romantic series on Disney +, including: This Is Us, How I Met Your Mother, Lions of Sicily (Italian Original), Ignorant Angels (Italian Original), La Ultima (Spanish Original), Irresistible (French Original) and Tell Me Lies.
