Masked Singer UK viewers 'solve' who Cricket is - and it's 'not Lemar'
The Masked Singer fans think there might be a twist in regards to Cricket's true identity on the ITV series.
After weeks of suspecting that the character could be singer Lemar, some viewers have now done a U-turn. After the latest performance, and ahead of a double elimination, some viewers believe a different singer is behind the mask.
Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan were joined by guest panellist Lorraine Kelly on Saturday, a week before the final. The group and host Joel Dommett were once again trying to work out who was under the mask, with viewers at home doing the same.
New clues included "justice", heartbreak and destiny with hints to seven number one songs, or top 10 hits, while he also mentioned a red wig and being runner up. Now, some fans believe Lemar is not the celebrity under the mask, despite several viewers willing to bet it is.
Another star suspected of being Cricket is Blue singer Simon Webbe, with past clues including the words 'All Rise' heavily hinting he is Cricket. The latest episode left some fans convinced he was the character, and Lemar was a red herring.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesTaking to X, one fan posted: "Thought cricket was lemar, now after the clues earlier im thinking simon webbe, whoever it is, simon and lemar sound similar." Another said: "personally think from the clues it's 'Simon Webbe' from Blue who is Cricket."
A third fan commented: "I’m still not convinced Cricket is Lemar #MaskedSingerUK …I’m still punting on Simon or Duncan from Blue." Meanwhile a fourth fan wrote: "cricket simon webb? hopefully?"
It comes after a number of eliminations since the series began in December, with the first double exit airing last week. Last weekend we saw Dippy Egg unmasked as Davina’s pal Nicky Campbell in an emotional moment.
Nicky burst into tears as he performed, with Davina also crying at the sweet performance. That same night, Pussycat Dolls singer Melody Thornton was unmasked as Maypole.
Like with Nicky, none of the panel guessed Melody was under the mask, while Rita said it was obvious once she realised. The week before Melody’s unmasking, Owl was revealed to be ITV ’s Lorraine Kelly, who happened to be a guest panellist on the show in the latest episode.
Julia Sawalha was another name unmasked on the series, with her confirmed to be Bubble Tea last month. Meanwhile, Rat was unmasked as Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas a few weeks ago. Speaking about joining The Masked Singer, she said: "The worst part of performing in the costume is the head gets very hot, it feels quite claustrophobic.
“The best thing is that I’ve fallen in love with Rat and actually don’t want to leave him. I want him to be in my house! He’s a character I will hold close to my heart forever. I enjoyed my journey with Rat!"
The week prior it was revealed that Chicken Caesar was Alexander Armstrong. The TV star and comedian is known for the likes of Pointless, Armstrong and Miller and Classic FM. Explaining the slew of clues on the show, it was revealed the BRIT Award was actually the Classic BRIT Awards, which Alexander hosted.
Other clues included: "I'm a great Roman Explorer", which was a nod to presenting the documentary Rome's Invisible City. Elsewhere, "LXX is 70 in Roman numerals, a reference to Alexander's year of birth 1970", "Chicken Caesar's accent was a nod to Alexander being born in the North East" and "history and friend in the city, hinted to starring in Horrible Histories: The Movie with Kim Cattrall".
In week one, Weather unmasked as Dionne Warwick on the series. Music icon Dionne left the panel starstruck as she unveiled herself as the star under the costume.
