Security are believed to have managed to calm down the incident on scene, but the 48-year-old remained detained backstage. A source told The Hollywood Reporter, Killer Mike's arrest was "nothing big".

A spokesperson for LAPD told the publication: "At around 4 pm, an individual was detained at [Crypto.com Arena] for a physical altercation. The individual is currently being questioned. I cannot confirm identity of the individual until person is charged. The investigation is ongoing."

As he was escorted out of the arena, he was heard asking officers: "Are you serious?" Killer Mike won Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers” and Best Rap Album for Michael.

Fans took to social media to celebrate the wins. "No way yall gonna act like you don't know a rap legend. Killer Mike has been a beast. Glad he is getting recognized," one person wrote.

Another said: "DREAMS COME TRUE - IT’S A SWEEP!" Someone else added: "Let me say something. Killer Mike is one of the MOST prominent activist for OUR culture. I’ve witnessed this with own eyes everyday as his business neighbor he fought for me and his businesses to not be destroyed by drugs&violence on our block. Ask ANYONE about his efforts. Tonight will not be takin from him by LAPD, it simply proves his EVERYDAY point. Overlooked 4years and made a great album. Let’s salute this man. We have 2uplift eachother. Please."
