Actress Vicky McClure will appear on our screens again tonight as the second episode of Trigger Point series two is set to air.

The 40-year-old star has become a household name for her role as Lana Washington in the ITV drama, as well as playing Kate Fleming in Line of Duty, and while many now know her face, they might not know as much about her love life with her husband, Jonny Owen. Vicky has been in a relationship with Jonny for over a decade, and after the couple got engaged in 2017, they finally married in August last year.

The actress first met the 52-year-old Welsh actor, producer, and director in 2013 on the set of his film Svengali, where they played an on-screen couple. He's also a huge star of the small screen himself, having played PC Ady in Channel 4's Shameless, as well as starring in Murphy's Law and My Family.

He also won a Bafta for producing the 2006 documentary The Aberfan Disaster; is a director at Nottingham Forest and has his own radio show, Jonny Owen & Friends, on Talksport.

According to Jonny, who was married once previously and has a daughter from that relationship, their attraction was instant. The pair fell in love and moved in together in London, before later relocating to Vicky's hometown of Nottingham after Jonny spent months living with Vicky's parents while house-hunting.

He previously told Wales Online: "Obviously, I thought she was incredibly attractive. When I met her for the first time we got on very well. Then I remember we were walking down Southbank [in London] on a weekend break from filming and we were going to the Tate Modern and she turned to me and asked me if I fancied going to the pub instead. And I was like, well, yeah!

"I thought, 'What a girl'. I think we almost simultaneously both went, 'I fancy you!' It just tumbled from there and we haven't been apart since that moment. I think we went from 'I like you' in the pub to 'I love you' in about 10 seconds."

Vicky has also spoken about that first phone call and their relationship on an episode of Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast, saying she "just knew" he was the one when they met. However, she admitted it was "tricky" at first because when she Googled her potential love interest, she found out he was married - but "in the middle of a divorce".

She continued: "It was tricky. I thought 'I am scared now, I genuinely feel something I've never felt before. He's a proper man. He's a grownup. We got to talking about love. And just the way he was describing it: I was like, 'Oh My God. He's the man for me.' I've never loved anyone more than I've loved Jonny."

Vicky and Jonny announced their engagement on 28 December 2017 and the star has since shared details of how he popped the question. Speaking to the Nottingham Post, she revealed it was a very casual proposal, as they were enjoying a cuppa - and he'd hidden the ring where they keep the tea bags.

Wedding planning took some time as filming schedules and the coronavirus pandemic put a halt on their big day, but Vicky had confessed to having "crazy" wedding ideas before she finally walked down the aisle. In 2021, she told The Sunday Times Magazine: "I'd dreamt about getting married since I was a kid. I love the concept of marriage, I love the concept of a wedding, I'm a sucker for love. So I'm desperate for it to happen."

Vicky and Jonny finally tied the knot in August 2023, and the couple were surrounded by co-stars and loved ones including Line of Duty stars Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar, as well as Jonny's radio host daughter Katie Owen.

The actress took to her Instagram page to share snaps of her wedding day with her 732,000 followers, and on one picture that showed off her flowing white gown, she wrote: "Tied up in Notts!!! Best. Day. Ever!!!!!"
