Amazon fans say Donald Glover has 'done it again' with 'dangerously good' series
Amazon’s Prime Video has launched the brand-new Mr. and Mrs. Smith series, and fans have said star and co-creator Donald Glover has “done it again.” Available to stream now, the Prime Video action-comedy is a reimagining of Doug Liman’s 2005 film of the same name that starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
It is starring, co-created and executive produced by Atlanta star Glover – otherwise known by his musical moniker Childish Gambino – and Francesca Sloane, whose writing credits include Atlanta and Fargo. Glover – who also starred in US sitcom Community and Star Wars prequel Solo – fronts the series alongside PEN15 co-creator and star Maya Erskine, with the on-screen couple forming the latest iteration of John and Jane Smith.
In the new series, two lonely strangers who have given up their lives and identities land jobs working for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glorious life of espionage, wealth, world travel, and a dream brownstone in Manhattan. The catch? New identities in an arranged marriage.

Despite some fans having concerns that the reboot series would not live up to its feature-length predecessor, the series has debuted with overwhelmingly positive reviews.
The Independent gave the series five stars, hailing it as “one of the sexiest shows on TV.” The Guardian gave it four stars, saying it is “fast, fun and witty” while giving “unexpected spins to expected beats and traditional tropes.”
Donald Glover - AKA Childish Gambino - serves as star, co-creator and executive producer of Mr. and Mrs. SmithIt currently boasts an 89 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. Since it launched on Friday (February 2), fans have flocked to social media to share their reactions, with some hailing it as “dangerously good” and saying Glover has “done it again.”
