Phillip Schofield finally sells London bachelor pad after slashing price twice
Phillip Schofield has sold the lavish London flat he conducted the majority of his "unwise but not illegal" affair with an ITV runner.
Schofield's former co-star Eamon Holmes famously claimed Schofield often transported his "younger" This Morning lover from ITV studios to the flat in the London Borough of Southwark for "playtime", after details of Schofield's extra-marital affair were made public last year.
But "playtime" is now officially over, thanks to Schofield finally finding a buyer for his bachelor pad - after dropping the asking price twice over recent months. The "immaculate top floor two double bedroom apartment located on charming Trinity Street" is now marked as "sale agreed" on its listing, with Schofield's estate agents previously only open to offers in excess of £1,000,000.
The former This Morning presenter slashed the cost of his £1.2million penthouse last year in a bid to be free of his former home, after buying the swanky London property with his now estranged wife Stephanie Davis in 2012. The former couple originally listed the property for the same price they purchased for over a decade ago, but by August had reduced the price of the two-bedroom property by £185,000.
The dad-of-two, 61, has been away from our TV screens for almost a year now, thanks to the former Dancing On Ice presenter stepping down from his roles on multiple ITV shows after admitting to a historic affair with a younger colleague, who had worked behind-the-scenes on This Morning.
Phillip Schofield mocks Molly-Mae's baby name in cruel swipe at Love Island starAs he resigned from ITV in May, Schofield cleared up some rumours about the affair, saying: "Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over."
Shortly after Schofield's bombshell statement, old co-star turned enemy Eamonn Holmes decided to share some further details about Schofield's affair with the unnamed This Morning runner. Speaking on GB News toward the end of May, the Irish broadcaster alleged Schofield would invite his love over to stay at his home on Thursday nights. At the time of the affair, Schofield would present This Morning from Monday to Thursdays, with Eamonn and his wife Ruth Langsford taking over on Fridays up until 2020.
"I didn't know but I've subsequently found out from a very, very good source, because he [the runner] would arrive much earlier in the morning than I would for the programme, that he was delivered from Phillip’s London home," Eamonn told Dan Wootton on GB News. He went on to add: "Usually on a Friday morning, because Thursday was playtime when he and Phillip would hit the town and then he obviously stayed overnight. There are records to show that he was brought in the next day separately in cars paid for by ITV."
After Wootton, who has since left GB News, probed Eamonn about management's knowledge of the affair, Eamonn explained: "Unless Phillip paid the bills separately, but it would still have to go through the Accounts Office that they would have seen that and known that and this lad, lovely fellow, lovely fella, really good talented fella. Ruth and I particularly looked after him, he never once talked to us about any relationship, but we knew he was in a bad way and he was in a bad way fragilely."
It seems Schofield is finally free of the flat, located close to The London Studios where This Morning used to be filmed before they relocated to White City in 2018, and has officially sold the property to a new owner. The listing on estate agents Cluttons website described the two-bedroom flat as being located "in the heart of this beautifully leafy area of Borough."
"There are two double bedrooms, the principal benefitting from an ensuite shower room and extensive built in the storage. The second bedroom also benefits from built in storage," the listing went on to state. "There is a contemporary separate family bathroom and utility cupboard off the hallway. The property also benefits from one secure underground parking space and communal garden area."
The last asking price listed before a sale agreed was "offers in excess of £1,000,000". Schofield and his estranged wife Stephanie had originally want £1,200,000 for the flat - what they paid for it in 2012 - but dropped the price by £85,000 and then a further £100,000 last year in a bid to finally get a sale.
"He would usually stay there while presenting This Morning from Monday to Thursday with ITV cars often seen coming and going from the address," a source told The Sun when discussing the flat in June. "The property has been on the market for a while now. Apparently, there has been one offer recently but the buyer dropped out." The insider added that Schofield and Stephanie didn't care about a profit, they just wanted rid of the flat.
