A dad has shared his confusion after he paid £40 for a Calvin Klein shirt - only for it to arrive with Primark branding.

Jason Bush ordered one Calvin Klein polo shirt from Next which he was going to surprise his teenage son with, but when the item arrived, he was gobsmacked to find it had Primark branding on the inside, despite it being wrapped in proper CK packaging and having the appropriate tags for the designer brand.

Baffled, the dad called Next's customer service team who promised to send him the correct shirt. However, a few days later when the replacement arrived, Jason was furious to discover he had received yet another Primark-branded top.

Explaining what happened when the incident took place in 2022, Jason said: "The shirt came the next day, all packaged nicely as it should be - until I checked the label and saw the word 'Primark'. I couldn't see what had happened - how would a shirt from Primark end up being sold in Next with a Calvin Klein label?

"I wanted an explanation which I never got but they did say they'd send a replacement - until that one was exactly the same! The second time on the phone I was told 'Your guess is as good as mine' by customer services - I couldn't believe it.

"We did get the correct one in the end but by then it was weeks too late, and my son never got his Calvin Klein shirt on Christmas day. I paid £40 and was sent shirts I could have bought in Primark for £2.50 each - and I just don't understand how."

The electrical tester from Rotherham contacted customer services a second time and was sent a third shirt - and while this one arrived with the correct branding, it was the wrong size. He finally received the correct shirt on his reported fourth attempt, and to say sorry for the mix-up, Next sent Jason several shirts for free and refunded him for the original shirt.

He also received a voucher, and while the dad said the gesture was a "nice surprise", he's still confused as to how the mix-up happened and has never received a proper answer.

"Getting some extra shirts was a nice surprise really, and the voucher was a good apology," he said, "So it didn't work out too badly! I just scratch my head to think how it happened in the first place - I want an explanation!"

The Mirror has contacted Next and Calvin Klein for comment.
