Love Island has been hit by a separation before the series starts... The branded condoms and personalised water bottles and suitcases are missing.

The items are still at sea on a cargo ship that somehow failed to dock at the harbour in Cape Town.

Producers fear the series launch will be affected as camera equipment is also stuck on the vessel.

Love Island bosses have had to panic-buy condoms to fill the villa in South Africa, with the contestants due to arrive this weekend.

Chiefs are unlikely to be able to replace the water bottles and suitcases emblazoned with the contestants’ names in time for Monday’s launch episode.

Goodies from Ann Summers – part of a new link-up – are also missing, so it could prove to be a costly problem.

A source said: “It’s a logistical nightmare. Everything should have arrived days ago.

“They are missing essential camera equipment, all the iconic neon pink stash the islanders use, and the Love Island condoms and sexy lingerie that was destined for the hideaway retreat.

“They have stocked up on alternative condoms to make sure everyone is safe in the meantime.

“If it all arrives in time it will be a miracle. If they don’t manage to secure everything it will be a blow for them kicking off this weekend.”

As well as helping viewers to remember the contestants’ names, the water bottles are popular to buy.

Sales of official replica bottles (costing £20) could be affected if there is a delay in them being used on the dating game show.
