It's always heartbreaking when you learn one of your favourite foods has been discontinued because the thought of never having that taste sensation pass your lips again is gutting - and Marmite fans were especially devastated to learn that Walkers Marmite crisps wouldn't be produced again.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, people expressed "national outrage" when the manufacturer admitted that the packets of crisps would be being phased out, after being on sale for 20 years.

The crisp brand said they were "really sorry to disappoint fans", but the crisps were discontinued at the end of 2023, and would now slowly be disappearing from shelves.

Fans of the product posted on social media with outraged comments, demanding that they be brought back as soon as possible - and it seems as though their prayers may have been answered.

The official Marmite account teased a potential return of the beloved snack online by posting a picture of a hand holding a singular crisp, with the Marmite logo on top of the picture. "Coming soon", they promised, with an eyes emoji.

In the comments, people were thrilled to hear that the tasty snack may be making a comeback, with one writing: "Proper Marmite crisps coming back?", and another penning: "Ohhhh these with cheddar cheese in a sarnie! I'm drooling already."

Another commented: "After the devastation of learning Walkers are discontinuing their Marmite crisps, this comes as some welcome news!!"

Someone else begged for them to be "widely available in every store", rather than just being in certain locations. "Yes please", one man added, with someone else simply posting the same eyes emoji Marmite had chosen.

And it's not just Marmite crisps people are desperate for, as others asked for different products to be made again. One said: "I still miss the Marmite and cheese rolls that Marks and Spencer did for a short time a few years ago. Wish they'd bring them back!"

Someone else demanded a "Marmite pot noodle", while another wanted the "Marmite Easter egg" back on the shelves.
