I loved workout out from the privacy of my bedroom!

Although I’ve lived in London for the past 7 years now, I love being a tourist in my own city...and I’m a total sucker for a good hotel stay.

Having stayed in a few Hilton hotels over the years, both in the UK and abroad, I certainly wasn’t going to turn down an invite to stay at their newly renovated Canopy by Hilton London City, complete with a free to use Peloton exercise bike in their Junior Suites - allowing you to get your workout done without even leaving the room.

Located right next to Aldgate and Aldgate East tube stations, where you can catch the Circle, Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City and District lines from, the swanky hotel is super accessible and also a short walk away from some of London’s top attractions, such as Tower Bridge, The Tower of London, and my personal favourite spot, Brick Lane.

The hotel boasts a unique ribbon-like effect from the outside made from 1,900 rotating aluminium fins, making it pretty easy to spot when coming out from the tube station - to be honest, I was a bit taken aback by the sheer size of it!

Given the hotel is located in one of London’s trendiest urban neighbourhoods, the open-plan lobby and bar area (where we would be having dinner later that evening) totally matched the edgy vibe of the area, featuring winding green velvet sofas, soft rugs and pendant lights, dimmed to create a relaxed, calming atmosphere.

Despite letting the hotel know we would be arriving at 12pm, our room wasn’t actually ready until 3pm which was a slight inconvenience, however due to it being so close to Shoreditch, we decided to head to Brick Lane for a day of vintage shopping (seeing as it was a 20 minute walk away). There’s also complimentary bike hire for those wanting to explore the city without having to hop on and off the tube.

After a busy day out, our room was finally ready, and it was definitely worth the wait. We stayed in a beautiful Junior Suite, which came with a king-sized bed, living area, his and hers shower, a 55-inch TV… oh, and our favourite part, a Peloton bike which looked out onto amazing views of the Gherkin and the City of London.

We also brought our dog with us as it is a pet-friendly hotel, and the staff kindly provided us with food and water bowls, and her very own bed (safe to say she was one spoilt pup for the night).

Although we had a busy day out, I decided to do a 30-minute Peloton class before heading downstairs for dinner - and I’m not going to lie to you, it was tougher than I thought it would be! It was great to workout in total privacy without having to head to the gym, and also super convenient being able to jump in the shower straight after getting my sweat on.

Some other highlights in our room included sustainably produced toiletries, a large hanging space near the door, bathrobes and slippers, and a Nespresso machine to pour yourself a delicious coffee in the morning whilst looking out at the amazing London views on the bespoke pink velvet sofa.

We were initially booked into the hotel’s Florattica restaurant for dinner, however were told prior to our stay that it would be temporarily shut for maintenance which was a shame as I was looking forward to seeing the 11th floor rooftop views. Due to this, we were booked into the St Clare Bar instead which is situated in the lobby.

While it may not have amazing views of the city, there was a lovely calming vibe to it, and the food totally exceeded our expectations. We decided to share duck spring rolls and salmon teriyaki skewers for starters, and for mains I opted for the Pan Fried Sea Bass while my partner went for a classic Pizza Margherita.

Before breakfast in the morning, we decided to check out the 24-hour TechnoGym which was one of our favourite spaces in the hotel. It felt super luxe, almost like stepping into a spa, complete with modern changing rooms, a water machine and clean towels. It was bursting with what looked like brand new equipment (even Pelotons), and everything was perfectly placed and absolutely spotless - a dream place to workout in my opinion! Plus, we were the only ones in there at the time, so we basically had a private gym to ourselves.

After our workout, we headed upstairs for a much-needed breakfast, and there was everything you could wish for - from build your own yoghurt and granola stations to a fully cooked English breakfast with the most delicious scrambled eggs! Plus, the staff were super helpful and couldn’t do enough for us.

All-in-all, we had an incredible experience staying at the Canopy by Hilton London City, and would definitely consider returning in the future. Despite a few minor inconveniences, the location, style and vibe of the hotel makes it the perfect staycation spot - especially if you want to bring your pet along too, and that dreamy gym will be living in my head rent-free for some time.
