Dricus Du Plessis celebrated his UFC title win on the beers and fans were amazed at how quickly he could down a pint.

The South African edged past Sean Strickland in a razor-close split decision at UFC 297 on Saturday night to become the new middleweight champion. Two judges scored the fight 48-47 in favour of Du Plessis whilst the other had it for Strickland in a fight which divided opinions among UFC fans.

A battered and bruised Du Plessis was challenged to down a beer by Australian TikToker Jackson after his fight. The UFC champion got it down in just two seconds and one fan reacted to the video by writing: "Dude definitely knows some tricks back from South Africa!" A second comment read: "Dricus won and didn't spill beer all over himself. His best win that night."

All three judges scored the first and fifth rounds for Strickland and the second and fourth rounds for Du Plessis in their title clash. The third round is where the fight was won and lost, with Strickland protesting his defeat by posting a video which appears to show him being cut by an accidental head clash.

"I didn't take the cowards way out and tell the doctor I couldn't see and got a no contest," Strickland wrote. "The only reason why you took a round from me is because I couldn't see. I won that fight, the world knows I won that fight. They had to stitch through muscle to get it closed. The belt they gave you will never make you a champion."

Du Plessis fired back by commenting on Strickland's post: "Why don't you cry about it... again." UFC boss Dana White scored the fight in favour of Strickland but played down an immediate rematch between the pair. All signs point towards Israel Adesanya for Du Plessis next, as the pair were originally supposed to fight last September.

“I look like a cauliflower now, I’m pretty banged up but I’m up for another round. I don’t want to put a timeline on it but UFC 300 sounds amazing. It’s nothing personal with [Israel], it’s just the fight the fans want to see. There’s a lot of hype, but I don’t care who it is," Du Plessis said after his win.
