Everything coming to Netflix in February including King Richard and Green Book

As 2024 starts to shift into gear, Netflix has rolled up its sleeves and got a cracking host of TV shows, movies and more to get excited about in February.

Heading up the pack is King Richard in which - after three decades of acting and a trio of nominations - Will Smithfinally scooped an Oscar for his spellbinding portrayal of Richard Williams, father to tennis aces Venus and Serena. While the achievement was rather overshadowed by 'The Slap Heard Around The World' - ie when Smith struck host Chris Rock at the Academy Awards night - it's worth noting just how good Smith's acting chops are in this sports film.

With a healthy 7.5 on IMDb, hundreds of users have flocked to the site to sing its praises. Masonsaul posted: "Even though it follows a very familiar formula (tennis Rocky is a fair description), King Richard is still an incredible sports drama that's heartwarming, tense and emotional, telling an inspirational true story with care and depth. Will Smith gives an incredible lead performance that's definitely one of his all time best. He is unafraid to show his character's flaws."

Another top film on its way to Netflix is the multiple Oscar-winning Green Book, which tells the tale of renowned African-American pianist Dr Don Shirley ( Mahershala Ali) and his concert tour in the racially-charged Deep South of 1962.

To overcome the challenges and ensure his safety, Shirley enlists the services of Tony Lip ( Viggo Mortensen ), a resilient bouncer hailing from an Italian-American enclave in the Bronx. Despite their diverse backgrounds, the two forge an unforeseen connection as they confront the pervasive racism and perilous circumstances of an era marked by segregation.

With a superb 8.2 rating on IMDb and an avalanche of glowing reviews across the web, it's safe to say it's more than worth joining in the ride. User Lotus posted: "This is not a typical road movie, or buddy film. Given the lead actors, I knew it would be something special, and it is. Entertaining, funny in parts, and hard to accept in others. Green Book has so many layers - family, culture, honesty, dignity, genius, respect, acceptance, stereotypes, racism, music, class, friendship, and fried chicken. Whatever your views, race, or age - this film is not 'preachy', but you'll appreciate an honest portrayal of a difficult time and place in history."

Let's take a look at what Netflix has lined up for next month:
