Ricky Hatton 'gutted' as he's first axed from Dancing On Ice after skate-off
Dancing On Ice axed its first contestant of the 2024 series on Sunday night, as two celebrities faced the dreaded skate-off.
Ricky Hatton and Lou Saunders were tasked with performing again, after failing to impress the viewers voting at home. Ricky and his pro skater Robin Johnstone learned their skate-off fate a week ago, while Sunday night saw Lou learn she would be joining him in the bottom two along with their pro skater Brendyn Hatfield.
This week, six more famous names took to the ice rink in a bid to impress the judges and viewers. Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill were back on hand with scores and feedback. As hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern got back to proceedings, it was Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney, EastEnders actor Ricky Norwood, Made in Chelsea’s Miles Nazaire, comedian Lou, Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards and DJ Adele Roberts taking to the ice.
As the six performed for the judges and viewers, one of them learned they had to face Ricky in the skate-off. As both stars performed again, it was Ricky who judges chose to send home after deciding who had skated the best.
Asked about his exit from the ITV series after just one performance, Ricky confessed he was "gutted" and praised his skating partner for her hard work. He was pleased with how far he had come along on the show in just a week, after adding new features to his routine which the judges applauded.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesHe said: "I'm gutted to be going home yeah, I've tried to be a winner all my life in everything I've done. It's been a while since I saw the second round. I think I will carry on skating.

"I may be out in the first round but I had a great time, and I met some wonderful friends. I'd like to thank Robin for all her hard work and the coaches." He added that he'd be going home "happy".
Last week viewers learned that Ricky was at risk of leaving the show, after landing in the first skate-off. Six of the contestants performed last Sunday, including Amber Davies, Greg Rutherford, Hannah Spearritt, Ricky, Roxy Shahidi and Ryan Thomas.
Speaking about being in the skate-off, Ricky said he wasn't surprised as he shared: "I should have never been here, but it's another week of practice. And we'll just practice and hopefully get another chance to make people smile again."
