Steph McGovern has shared a rare update about her role as a parent after attending a baby bank to help other mothers.

The 41-year-old television presenter is the mother of a four-year-old daughter who she shares with her partner. The TV star keeps her young child and her partner largely clear of the public spotlight, but took time to reference her own child when sharing a social media post.

On Friday, Stephe revealed she had been to a baby bank to help organise donations that had been made to help mothers in need. The star posed with volunteers from the Leeds Baby Bank charitable organisation - and shared footage of huge piles of clothes, nappies, toys and baby products that had been donated to help those in need.

The trip clearly made an impact on Steph and her own role as a mother. Sharing the photos and video with her followers on Instagram, the mum-of-one further put a spotlight on the work being done at the charity centre.

She wrote: "It was an honour to visit @leedsbabybank and see the work they do to look after children in the local community. As the mam of a four-year-old girl, it was quite overwhelming to see how much care they take of the families most in need.

"People who have fled domestic violence or landed on tough times. The bank gets them back on their feet. If you want to know more about the baby banks near you have a look at the brilliant @baby_basics."

Fans and followers praised Steph for spotlighting the centre, with one writing: "Wonderful to raise awareness for a great cause. Thank you Steph.” And another wrote: "Thanks for the reminder. We have bags of stuff to drop off. Such a great cause."

It is rare for Steph to share details about her experience as a mother. However, she previously opened up to Prima magazine about the flexibility she enjoyed that was offered to her while hosting her since-cancelled lunchtime talks show Steph’s Packed Lunch.

She previously told the publicaiton: "I film at lunchtime, so I get to take my daughter to and from nursery every day, which is unbelievably amazing. Then, when we get home, I purposely try not to look at my phone until she's in bed. We'll just whack some music on and dance about for a bit. She also loves playing 'imaginary zoo' at the moment."

Steph was left devastated last year when her show was cancelled by Channel 4 after being on air for just under four years. Wiping away tears when the last ever episode aired last month, Steph thanked her viewers for tuning in, and before playing a montage of 'best bits' she said: "We've had a proper laugh doing this show. Thank you for sharing your stories with us and being part of this dysfunctional family. Before we go I thought it would be nice to take a trip down memo."
