Love Island's Anton calls situation between exes Molly and Callum 'very strange'

There was confusion in the South African air on Thursday evening as some of the Love Island All Stars cast were left perplexed by the actions of exes Molly Smith and Callum Jones.

Monday's opening episode of the series saw Molly, 30 and Callum, 27, enter the villa seemingly unaware of each other's involvement on the show. After making an entrance first, Callum, who originally coupled up with Molly on series six of the ITV2 programme, was soon given the task of deciding whether or not to rekindle their romance.

Much to his co-stars' surprise, the former scaffolder from Manchester opted to reconnect with his ex rather than pair up with another Islander. On Wednesday, however, Chris Taylor made it clear he was interested in Molly too and made his move after she argued with Callum.

Molly, who is keeping her options open until Callum makes his true intentions clear, then followed Chris to the terrace for a chat where he wasted no time in kissing her. Confused, a tearful Molly then confessed on Thursday that she didn't want her smooch with Chris to become "a thing".

"I just feel a whole whirlwind of confusion, it was a good kiss, he's a good kisser but I don't know if I felt anything when we kissed," she explained to her pals. Chris was equally as confused over her reaction, but Callum appeared to be fine with the drama, responding: "Nice, great! We said to each other, if you want to crack on with someone else, that's fine, you do that."

Later in Thursday's instalment, meanwhile, Anton Danyluk told Georgia Harrison as they cosied up together: "I just don't know where they're going to go from here" - referring to Molly and Callum. "Because it's very, very strange. I feel like they said they want to work on it - but they're not working on it." Georgia replied: "Maybe that's what they're doing now."

After three years together, Molly and Callum broke up in September 2023. The latter moved out of their shared home and took their pug, Winnie, with him. According to a source, the couple split because of Molly's desire to get engaged, which was never forthcoming.

They told The Sun at the time: "It's really sad as they were a sweet couple together but it's over - and has been for a few weeks. They're trying to stay friends - they were together for over three years - but it's difficult. I think in the end, Molly wanted to get engaged and that didn't happen. Everyone was really surprised when they split as they were perfectly matched. He's now moved out of the home they shared and they’ve split custody of their two dogs."
