Woman who didn't shower for six weeks swears the wait was worth it

What's the longest you could go without showering? One woman has admitted she went six whole weeks without washing under water - and explained why it's worth waiting so long.

Jessy Muller - who goes by @slowroamer on Instagram - documents her travels while living on the road in her camper van. The self-described 'seasoned nomad' shared that due to the shower in her van not having any hot water, she rarely takes a 'proper shower'.

But every now and then she will stop off at a leisure centre or a service station to indulge herself. Sadly for Jessy, her latest showering experience didn't go to plan. After waiting six long weeks, she paid $5 (£3.90) to take a shower. But to her disappointment, the shower was freezing cold. "I guess the $5 didn't include hot water," she said in a recent video.

Social media users were pretty gobsmacked that Jessy chooses to go so long between showers. One wrote: "Damn! I couldn't stand 2 days without a shower." Another said: "Oh no I could not go that long."

But Jessy explained that while she might not have a real shower, she does still maintain her personal hygiene.

'I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time'

In a bid to help others understand that there are ways of staying clean, Jessy shared a video talking her followers through her regime. "Let me show you the ways I actually stay clean without taking a proper shower," she said.

"I do have a shower in my RV, it's just that the water heater is out of commission. The shower head still works, it's just cold water.I still use this two ways: One, I kneel here, put my head over the basin and wash my hair.

"The other way is I pop a squat and clean the nether regions.

"I also wash my hair in the sink which I usually do about once a week. There are a variety of different cleansing wipes you can use, but I usually prefer to use a wash cloth.... Soap it up, scrub, pits, t**s and slits, you're good to go."

And the best thing about waiting so long for a shower? How much Jessy appreciates 'a proper shower' when she is able to get one. "As you can see there are a lot of different ways to keep clean, but the best bit is how much you appreciate a real shower when you get one," she added.
