Charlotte Crosby hits back after being 'gossiped about' on Geordie Shore

Charlotte Crosby has hit back at her former Geordie Shore co-stars after they were caught gossiping on camera behind her back.

The 33-year-old quit the MTV show last summer after 12 years and later unfollowed castmate Marnie Simpson, prompting rumours of a feud. And although she revealed she won't watch the latest episode of the new series, which started this week, Charlotte took to Instagram to thank fans for their support.

In a lengthy statement, she wrote: “Hi everyone. I just wanted to pop on to say thanks so much for all the lovely messages I’ve received over the last 24 hours. They’ve meant a lot. I haven’t had a chance to watch the new eps of Geordie Shore yet, but I don’t think I will. I really was quite clueless as to conversations that were being had behind my back by ‘friends’.”

Following reports Charlotte “behaved like a diva” on set, the mum-of-one – who shares one-year-old daughter Alba Jean with fiancé Jake Ankers, continued: “Last year whilst filming was going on, I had just had a baby, lost my beloved nana and was trying to be at my mam’s side through her cancer diagnosis. I know many of you are already fully aware of the rollercoaster of emotions we went through as a family that year, so I feel a little saddened I have to bring this up in a bid to try and defend myself.”

Sharing she was “hurt” by her co-star’s actions, she added: “I was hoping to be really strong when the show aired and try to brush it off like I wasn’t bothered, but I am hurt and I can’t quite seem to shake it off. Life is too short to argue though. I’m going to count my blessings, value my loved ones and move on with my head held high. Love you lots.”

In a separate clap back post on her Instagram grid, Charlotte shared a clip of herself cuddling daughter Alba on an exotic holiday with the caption: “And then I remember this is my life." People were quick to comment underneath, with many leaping to Charlotte’s defence, while her partner Jake wrote: “The best mother to our gorgeous little cherub.”

Commenting on the new episode, which appeared to show Marnie, Chloe and Nathan talking about Charlotte at Marnie’s wedding, one fan wrote: “People are showing their true colours. You were so genuinely happy for Marnie, it’s really sad they had to stoop so low to be talking about you behind your back like that. Actually made me sick. Definitely Team Char! Was very, very sad to watch.”

A second branded Charlotte’s former pals ‘Mean Girls,’ as they commented: “It’s so sad when you find out that the ones you thought were your ‘Friends’ are just a bunch of childish, jealous Mean Girls. If I was them, I’d be jealous too. I mean you’ve got a gorgeous, caring fiancé, a beautiful little girl, a successful career and business. Yes your year was hard, but you and your mum have come through it and I am sure your Nana is looking down on you and telling everyone up there, ‘That’s my Granddaughter, isn’t she an amazing, strong woman.’ Your true friends will always be there for you, even if you only have a few, that’s all you need. Can’t wait to see what’s next in Charlotte Crosby’s life.”

“There’s a reason why you have your own show and they don’t!” a third fan chimed in. “All they are showing is how jealous they are.” A fourth commented: “Unhappy people do unhappy things. If they truly valued your friendship that conversation would be off camera. Hugs Char.” While a fifth joked Charlotte could now cross them off her wedding invite list, adding: “Less people to invite to the wedding! Money saved! Happy days.”

Charlotte first joined the MTV series back in 2011 as one of the original cast members and became a fan favourite before making a shock exit in 2016. After appearing on a number of different shows, including Just Tattoo Of Us, Celebs Go Dating, and Get Me Out Of Here, Charlotte made her long-awaited return to Geordie Shore the Reunion last year. But she has no desire to return after admitting it turned out “terribly wrong”.

Speaking on her podcast Always On, she revealed: "I don't know why but the whole series, I later discovered, was a bit weird. I'm sad for loads of reasons. I'm sad that I took Alba and Jake, my family, into a show that I loved so much and it went so badly wrong. I just needed to get out of that environment. I'd never raised my voice in front of Alba ever, and I did in this argument, and I was like, 'Oh God, I feel absolutely terrible'. I've never gotten that angry and wound up. As a mam, you feel so guilty."

Charlotte went on to reveal that it was a row over a high chair of all things that caused her to quit the show and said: "I feel like I could cry talking about it. I felt an immense amount of guilt for not knowing better. I just thought we were going to have such a good time. There was a silly argument, over a high chair of all things, that escalated. And I just left.”

*The brand new series of Geordie Shore is available to watch every Tuesday on Paramount+ or catch up weekly on MTV
