'Gentle giant', 36, suddenly dies from heart attack just weeks before Christmas
A man who died suddenly from a heart attack has been remembered as a "fun, loving" brother who would "run to the ends of Earth to help anyone".
Daniel Harris's friends and family knew him as the "gentle giant" who had the "biggest heart" and was always happy.
The kind-hearted 36-year-old was a tireless volunteer at his local food kitchen in Grimsby, where he would help to feed those less fortunate than him.
But his loved ones were left devastated when he suddenly died from a heart attack just weeks before Christmas.
Paying tribute to her brother, Daniel's sister, Samantha, told GrimsbyLive: "There was never a dull moment with Dan. He was always such a happy guy, there was only one man like him that's for sure.
Surprising symptom that 40% of women suffer weeks before a heart attack"He was fun, loving, caring and would do anything for anyone if he could. He was a family man too and loved his cat Jag so much, that was like his little baby."
She added: "He was a big, happy, gentle giant."
Samantha explained that Daniel had been suffering from a chest infection when he had a fall.
She said: "Daniel had fallen over and couldn't get back up in his house, but managed to call my dad on his smart speaker to call him an ambulance. Whilst we were waiting, my dad phoned me to go and check on Daniel to make sure he was alright.
"When I saw him he was completely with it and was very alert, but we're still not sure how long he had been on the floor for by the time the paramedics got to him. He was struggling to breathe, but he'd been like that for a few weeks because of a chest infection so I thought nothing more of it."
But shortly after that, Daniel sadly suffered a heart attack and died on December 14, 2022.
Samantha continued: "I was absolutely devastated when I found out, I'd only seen him a few hours before. We were told he was taken straight to ICU where he suffered a heart attack and sadly flat-lined."
Before his tragic death, Daniel dedicated his time to lending a hand to Grimsby Food Kitchen owners Cath and Ken Homewood.
Remembering their valued team member, Cath said: "He’s so missed by so many, when with Dan he was always the joker and there was never a dull moment with him.
"He had the biggest heart and would run to the ends of the Earth to help anyone who needed anything. He was certainly unique in every way."

We have so many great memories that we will cherish forever, keep smiling as Dan would never want anyone to be upset as it hurt him to see anyone hurting."
Daniel's family struggled to cope with their loss during the festive period but hoped to give him a memorable send-off.
Samantha said: "It was really hard not having him there and I barely have anything to remind me of him either. We are, however, looking after his cat, who my daughter was very fond of.
"She had a great relationship with Daniel and when she heard about his death it hit her hard, but she immediately asked what would be happening to Jag. We just want to make sure we give him the send-off he deserves now."
