This week is when PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will find out what games are being added to the ever-rotating library next. Predictions hats on, here’s what titles we think could be coming.

Update: The PS Plus Extra and Premium January 2024 lineup has been announced and includes the Resident Evil 2 remake – which hitsXbox Game Pass on the same day next week.

Original story: PS Plus members received a big surprise last month, when as part of the PS Plus Extra and Premium December 2023 lineup it was revealed that GTA 5 would be added. It was a sneaky bit of hype generation manufactured by Sony and Rockstar Games, who no doubt were looking to capitalise on the GTA 6 trailer reveal weeks earlier. We doubt that the PS Plus Extra and Premium January 2024 lineup will contain anything quite as groundbreaking, but that won’t stop us from predicting.

Obviously, we won’t know exactly which games will be coming until PlayStation announces the full list of PS4 and PS5 game additions, scheduled to happen this Wednesday. If you’re wondering when exactly the PS Plus Extra and Premium January 2024 lineup will be revealed as well as the titles that PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers could be enjoying soon, here’s what you need to know.

PS Plus Extra and Premium January 2024 reveal time

The PS Plus Extra and Premium titles are revealed on the Wednesday after the month’s first batch of games are released. With the PS Plus Essential January 2024 lineup now out, PlayStation players can expect the PS Plus Extra and Premium January 2024 reveal time to be Wednesday, January 10 at 4.30pm GMT / 11:30pm EST / 8:30am PST .

The PS Plus Extra and Premium January 2024 lineup will be announced via an official post over on the PlayStation Blog, where it will break down exactly what games are coming to which of the two distinct PS Plus tiers.

PS Plus Extra and Premium January 2024 predictions

So far there have been no leaks about what games either the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers will consist of this month, meaning we are very much shooting in the dark and forced to read between the lines. Looking to what was added last year, in the PS Plus Extra and Premium January 2023 lineup, it was Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition that was the leader of the pack, indicating that another high-profile Capcom game might be on the cards.

Resident Evil 4 is a bit too new, but if any AAA 2023 release was to be added to PS Plus Extra and/or Premium, we’d say it’s more likely to be the recent Dead Space remake. Like Resident Evil 4, it’s a horror game, but one that is about to celebrate its one-year anniversary. It makes more sense when you remember that Dead Space featured in the Xbox Game Pass October 2023 lineup in time for Halloween, meaning it’s only a matter of time before PS Plus members get in on the action.

You can certainly bet that coming to the lineup too will be a recent-ish collection of indie games, possibly of the action-platformer or Metroidvania variety. This lends us to think that Blasphemous 2, as one of the breakout genre entries last year, could soon arrive – the original is already on there too. If PS Plus did want to dazzle with an indie treat that was in the 2023 GOTY conversation, eldritch fishing horror game Dredge would also be a great shout.

PS Plus Premium members almost always receive one or two entries into PlayStation’s classic console libraries, so a PSP or PS1 arrival may arrive. We’ve been waiting for the original Pursuit Force to turn up since its sequel was added back in August so that’s a safe bet. Meanwhile, Gematsu shared in a tweet that Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace was rated by Taiwan in December, meaning the PS1 tie-in game is a shoe-in for PS Plus Premium sometime soon, so hopefully January 2024.
