Golden Globes fans rage at Jo Koy for 'upsetting' Taylor Swift with NFL joke
Swfities were happy to see their favourite singer on the 81st Golden Globes red carpet but shortly after they found themselves having to to come to her defence during the opening of the show.
Shortly after his opening monologue, comedian and host, Jo Koy, poked fun at Taylor Swift when he spoke about Sunday night's football double header. He joked: "The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL is that we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift."
Taylor didn't look impressed as she sipped on her glass of champagne and her fans weren't happy either as they took to X (formerly known as Twitter ) to share their opinions.
One fan wrote: "Taylor Swift being unamused by Jo Koy, she's really just like us!" Another wrote: "Taylor Swift was NOT happy w this joke. Leave her alone plz." One fan even said that her reaction was a "mood." A fourth said: "Brrruuuh this guy even upsetting Taylor Swift now. I cannot watch."

Taylor took a break from supporting her football player boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and attended the Golden Globes. He was not seen next to the star as his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, faced the Los Angeles Chargers as they prepare for the NFL playoffs. Travis is unlikely to make an appearance at any after parties with Taylor either, as he has to fly straight to Kansas City after his game.
Taylor Swift was nominated for the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category at this year's award show. This is not her first time being nominated for a Golden Globee. She made her Golden Globe debut in 2013 after being nominated for Best Original Song for a Motion Picture for her track, Safe & Sound featuring The Civil Wars (Hunger Games). She was then nominated again for the same category in 2014 for Sweeter Than Fiction in One Chance, 2020 for Beautiful Ghosts in Cats, and 2023 for Carolina in Where the Crawdads Sing.
The award show aired live on CBS on Sunday, January 7 at 8 pm. EST (5 p.m. PST) from the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles, California. The Golden Globes are also available for Paramount + subscribers, who have the Showtime add-on.
