You can repurpose Xmas tree to make effective cleaning spray with 35p ingredient

If you're a household lucky enough to welcome a real tree into your home each Christmas, you may be curious if there are ways you can repurpose the fir - and one man has shared a handy way you can turn it into an effective cleaning spray.

Taking to TikTok, the man who posts as @creative_explained captioned his video: "You won't believe what you can do with a Christmas tree", and he was right, as many people in the comments were flabbergasted that the tree which once hung your humble collection of baubles could turn into a spray to clean your home from top to bottom.

He said: "Cut a few branches off your Christmas tree, chop them up a little bit, grab an air-tight container, put the pine needles in it, and then fill it up with some white vinegar, close it, and let it soak like that for about three weeks."

After three weeks, the vinegar should have a "nice golden colour", and when it does, you need to get a spray bottle and "strain some of the liquid out into it." Why? He explained: "Pine needles are packed with anti-bacterial properties and in combination with the vinegar, it makes a super awesome disinfectant."

You can use it to clean "anything" in your house, and it leaves a "pleasant" scent. He listed mirrors, toilets, floors, and counters as key areas you can use the spray on.

White vinegar can be purchased from Tesco for just 35p, making this spray seriously cost-effective and a great way to make your real tree more useful for you as you enter the new year.

According to DIY Natural, "Pine is naturally antibacterial and smells great", so can even be used to make soap as well as cleaner for your home.

In the comments, many people pointed out that their tree was "artificial", so they couldn't try this - but those who did were impressed with the hack. Someone wrote: "Saves the environment which is good and helpful", with another praising: "So, a super cheap PineSol, AND without all those extra chemicals?!?! Awesome idea! Thanks for sharing!!"
