Weather on Masked Singer UK 'solved' as voice clue 'gives away' icon's identity
The Masked Singer UK viewers think Weather is easy to work out in terms of their celebrity identity.
The character took to the stage this weekend, and some fans of the hit ITV series already think they know who it is. The show returned on Saturday night, with panellists Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan trying to work out the identity of six new characters, with the help of guest judge Charlie Simpson.
Confirmed for the latest lineup were Cricket, Weather, Marypole, Bigfoot, Egg and Rat. Also taking part are Air Fryer, Bubble Tea, Owl, Piranha, Eiffel Tower, Chicken Caesar.
Weather dropped a number of clues about their identity on the show before and after their performance. Clues included being powerful and dominating, and weathering the storm - as well as references to Blues music.
Some fans immediately believed they had worked out the identity of the celebrity in the Weather costume after the hints. It was music legend Dionne Warwick who many fans believed was under the mask, with panellist Jonathan agreeing.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesOne viewer said: "Weather is Dion Warwick," as another tweeted: "Weather has got to be Dionne Warwick." A third added: "Dionne Warwick is Weather," while a fourth said: "Weather can’t be Dionne Warwick…can it!?"
Host Joel Dommett couldn’t wait for the show to start and previously said: "Honestly, they are the best costumes ever. If they don’t make you smile, well, get out! Air Fryer is unbelievably silly. It's so liberating to be a part of a show where first of all, people really enjoy it and also from my point of view, any idea I have, it's fair game. Even when it comes to the suits!
"I think we've definitely got some of the best vocalists we've ever had on the show and we've had some really incredible ones in the past. The show goes through an interesting meandering of, we are all here for all the new characters, but then maybe the better singers start to get through in the last rounds, usually the final. Let's be honest, it’s usually really incredible singers left at that point. This year I really do feel like we've got some of the best we've ever had."
Talking about the costumes, Jonathan Ross said: "I love all of them. I really loved Weather. I thought that was a really beautiful, quite romantic, quite poetic looking costume. I liked Piranha a lot. They're fun, I have to say. Bubble Tea is great. Well, Bubble Tea and Air Fryer make the show very, very modern, don't they? There's a couple of phrases that weren't in common conversation two or three years ago, and now we've got them dancing on primetime ITV1!"
