Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall teams up with indie pop legend amid solo album delay

Jade Thirlwall is said to be collaborating with Bastille frontman Dan Smith, as they embark on a new music project together.

The 31-year-old powerhouse performer rose to prominence as a member of the girl group Little Mix formed on The X Factor back in 2011. The group made history after topping the charts with the release of their hit songs including Black Magic, and achieving five-number-one singles. However, Little Mix went on hiatus in May 2022, and members Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, and Perrie Edwards have launched their solo careers.

Last year, the Geordie singer reportedly took a break from music before setting out to release new music. However, Jade appears to be in no rush to release her solo offering, as she is delaying her new album to collaborate with icon pop singer Dan Smith.

It is believed the pair met at a writing camp last year, before eventually teaming up. A source told the Sun: "Jade and Dan have met each other a few times over the years when they’ve been at the same events. But they weren’t really mates until they ended up on this retreat together with a load of other songwriters and they teamed up to come up with ideas."

They added: "They hit it off and produced some strong tracks. Some of them have already been offered to other artists, so it’s only a matter of time before they get snapped up.

"They have both been busy writing for their own projects too, with Jade making her debut solo album and Dan shaping Bastille’s fifth LP, so they could well pop up with those records too."

It comes after The Mirror exclusively revealed that Jade was planning to move in with boyfriend Jordan Stephens. The Little Mix star has been dating Rizzle Kicks singer Jordan since May 2020 and revealed later that year that she had asked him to move in with her five months after they hit it off.

A source said at the time: "Jade has loved living in her flat, but the time now feels right to move on, and plan a new start with Jordan. They are closer than ever, and she is really excited about what the future holds."

Previously the singer refuted claims she was pregnant after posing in pictures where she covered her belly. She slammed rumours by saying: "It appears you can't put a bag in front of your body without people speculating you're pregnant lol. I'm not."
