Premier League clubs are gearing up for the January transfer window with just over a week remaining until work can officially start.

A number of sides in the top-flight could be in line for busy months. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are all among the title contenders and could add some new faces to their squads.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa are threatening another Premier League shock and could elect to add some new faces to their squad to continue their challenge under Unai Emery. At the other end of the table, some of the candidates for the drop could be tempted to invest in an effort to preserve their top-flight status.

Luton, Sheffield United and Burnley all occupy the three spots in the relegation zone so could welcome new faces to their teams. Premier League clubs spent a record £815million in January last year and it would be foolish to bet against that record being beaten this time around.

With all of that being said, take a look at all of the details you need when it comes to the upcoming January transfer window:

When does the January transfer window open?

The January transfer window will open in England on Monday, January 1, 2024. The German and French leagues will also abide by the same window.

However, it is slightly different in Spain and Italy, with their respective window not opening until the next day.

When does the January transfer window close?

The English transfer window closes on February 1 at 11pm GMT. This is the longest January window across Europe.

Teams abroad have slightly less time to conduct their desired business. The German window closes slightly earlier at 5pm the same day. Meanwhile, the Spanish, Italian and French windows all close on January 31 with various timings throughout the day.

What deals could we expect?

With a week to go until the window opens, there already appears to be a few deals in the pipeline. Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek looks set to seal a move away from Old Trafford and is expected to join German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

There’s also plenty of talk over strikers, particularly at Arsenal. The Gunners have been linked with both Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen but neither are expected to be cheap.

There will also no doubt be talk over the future of French forward Kylian Mbappe. The Paris Saint-Germain star is out of contract in the summer and will be free to talk to overseas clubs regarding a Bosman move once the January window opens.
