A mum let her two young sons take creative reigns over the name of her baby - and the final result is rather festive and joyful.

Mum-of-three Eliza Flynn welcomed her third beautiful son in April last year, and as he was a complete surprise, she decided to let her two older sons choose their baby brothers' middle name to celebrate.

Eliza, a pre and post-natal personal trainer from London, had "used up" all of the couple's baby names for their first two tots, so put the decision in the hands of their then six-year-old and three-year-old, who chose something that makes them "happy".

Eliza, and husband Ben Gash, already had Arthur and Hector and decided to choose Caspian as the first name for their third son - but let their boys have free reign on his middle moniker When deciding, they landed on the name "Snow" for their soon-to-be baby brother.

Caspian Snow Flynn Gash was born in March 2022, and the family love the unusual name they chose. "We had no idea what they would call him. There were some things we had to veto such as 'bum bum head' and so we chose his first name which is Caspian," Eliza told the Mirror.

She added: "I originally wanted Jasper, but I had ferret called that and that also got vetoed. We also liked Casper but people said was like the ghost. The boys then chose Snow and they stuck with it and said it's what they wanted."

When they were deciding, Eliza told them to think of things they love, and she shared they first said "presents," but decided they couldn't have a son called Caspian Presents. They then said they loved Snow and chose that instead. "I think we'd just had some snow and some of their fondest memories were from being the snow. We initially thought it was a little weird and then thought it sounded fun."

When the couple told their friends and family, Eliza recalled how there were some "raised eyebrows". The more traditional side of the family had a few questions as to why they let Arthur and Hector choose the name, but all in all the reaction "could have been worse".

Eliza said: "With your third child, anything goes at that point. The boys also liked 'Rainbow' and 'Sunshine' but they were very set on Snow in the end. They came up with it together and said we like this one. We let them mull over and then several months later it was still Snow."

Now, when winter comes, the family always associate it with Caspian Snow. "I think it's always one of those things where we don't think much of his name and middle name in summer months, its more in winter where there is any talk of snow," Eliza added. When the mum went to register his name, the staff at the registry told her they had never had a 'Snow' before and he was the first.

Eliza says many people often think of Game of Thrones when they hear Caspian's name, as well as Channel 4 presenter Jon Snow. The mum also revealed she has inspired other parents to let their children choose names. However, she admitted it took a little persuasion to get Ben on board with the idea.

"I am the more fun person when it comes to things like this, I think it was very much my idea to let the boys do it, and once they had got into it and were excited about it was harder for my husband to say no. He was intrigued to see what they would come up with," she said.

When they had decided on Snow, Eliza recalled how Ben initially said they couldn't have a child called Snow, but she, and her sons, managed to persuade him. "Caspian's name reflects him well, he's an all round jolly child and I think his name makes him more interesting. I think he will grow up to be an interesting person."
