Arsenal make Eden Hazard ‘contact’ as Mikel Arteta eyes ex-Man Utd star
Arsenal remain linked to a number of players with the January transfer window now in full swing.
The Gunners - currently leading the Premier League standings - are keen to bolster their options as they attempt to hold onto top spot. A new forward is potentially among the players that they want to sign whilst another midfielder could also arrive.
A number of names have been linked with a switch throughout the winter window including Joao Felix, Danilo and Youri Tielemans, with more continuing to emerge. With that being said, here are the latest rumours coming out of the Emirates Stadium:
Arsenal make Hazard ‘contact’
Amid a frustrating ongoing race for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk with Chelsea also pursuing the Ukrainian, Arsenal are apparently interested in a move for former Blues winger Eden Hazard as an alternative. According to MediaFoot, the Gunners are eyeing the Belgian despite his underwhelming stint at Real Madrid.
They have gone as far as getting in touch with the Spanish giants to find out exactly what it would take for them to sell him in January. Hazard, now 32, has just 18 months left to run on his current contract at the Santiago Bernabeu having arrived from Chelsea in 2019.

Another candidate to bolster their attacking options could potentially be former Man Utd and current Barcelona forward Memphis Depay. The Dutchman has fallen out of contention at the Camp Nou following the arrival of Robert Lewandowksi.
It is suggested that he could leave the club between now and the end of the month with a number of Premier League clubs eyeing him. As per Spanish outlet SPORT, Arsenal are among those with Man Utd, Chelsea and Newcastle all admirers.
It is suggested a meeting is set to be held later this month to make a decision over the former Lyon man’s future.

Gunners slam £34m price-tag on Balogun
Whilst Depay and Hazard could potentially be set to be welcomed to the Emirates Stadium in January, one man who could be set to leave is Folarin Balogun. The academy graduate impressed last season during a loan spell with Championship side Middlesbrough and has continued his excellent showings this term.
His goalscoring displays with Reims have caught the attention of a number of Italian clubs with Arsenal placing a €40m (£34m) price-tag on his head as per Gazzetta dello Sport. Balogun, 21, has made ten appearances for the Arsenal senior team in his career and scored two goals.
He only penned a new long-term deal with Arsenal in 2021 - a contract that is set to run for another two-and-a-half years.
