King Charles made touching family comment during 'emotional' royal service
King Charles stunned a charity fundraiser and royalist with a moving comment at an MBE ceremony about his royal family.
Steve Watts, who's dedicated his life to helping others, has raised a whopping £3million for a plethora of essential causes since he embarked on his admirable journey in 1985. Through his commendable endeavours, he received the opportunity to meet the King and still can't quite believe their conversation. The former Grenadier Guard described the occasion as "overwhelmingly emotional", adding, "I'm still wondering if it really happened."
Steve revealed that the 75-year-old asked him about looking after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, whom he referred to as his "Mama".
Steve reportedly got on the right side of the King, with the two exchanging jokes. The 70-year-old told his local paper, The Mail: "We were able to have a laugh, and he was asking me about my time as a guard, protecting his 'Mama' as he calls her." Charles is renowned for using the term 'Mummy' for comedic impact. He once utilised the term during a speech for her 92nd birthday at the Royal Albert Hall. Unsurprisingly, she gave a shocked look as he referred to her as "Your Majesty, Mummy."
Outside of looking after the Queen, throughout his life, Steve has strived to help those in need. During lockdown, he shared daily photographs, which he compiled into a book, entitled, 'A Year Like No Other'. He then sold the product to raise money for child abuse survivor Tony Hudgell and his foundation, as well as the Evelina Children's Hospital.
Kate Middleton swears by £19.99 rosehip oil that helps 'reduce wrinkles & scars'He generated interest in the book, via social media, telling BBC Radio Cumbria, that while sites like Facebook and Instagram are renowned for online hate, people can come together in the name of a positive cause. He said: "I've been having reviews from people in care homes. This is my daily tonic; this is what I get up for."
The noble character has developed a reputation for his charitable efforts, once putting his body on the line to run from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise an incredible £1million for the first CT scanner for children in the North West. Upon hearing of the sensational achievement, the King joked that Steve might be running home to the lakes. And with the hero's accolades taken into account, we wouldn't put it past him.
