Donald Trump sits cage-side with Kid Rock as Colby Covington gives him shout-out
Donald Trump was seen sitting front row alongside Kid Rock as he took in UFC 296's match between Colby Covington and Leon Edwards.
The former US President was seen seated in front of an array of famous faces including Stormzy and Maya Jama as he showed up at the top billing fight to support controversial UFC face Covington. Trump was joined by Kid Rock and Dana White at the T Mobile arena in Las Vegas for the Welterweight Championship fight.
The arena erupted as Trump, 77, walked in shaking hands with iconic commentator Joe Rogan before heading to his seat for the bout between British fighter Edwards and his Florida based opponent. Covington had said before the fight that he would have Trump put the belt on him if he won the title fight.

Trump was seen soaking up the atmosphere (Zuffa LLC via Getty Images)However, the avid supporter of the former President found himself left disappointed when he failed to secure a win over Edwards. As Covington headed to the octagon ahead of the fight he stopped at Trump's cage-side seats to have a brief exchange with him. The 45th US President was then seen patting his hand on his knee to encourage him in the challenge before he entered the ring.

But it wasn't meant to be for Covington and the former commander-in-chief as he faced a beatdown from the reigning champ in the ring. Edwards retained his championship title seeing off Covington in five rounds by the judges’ unanimous decision 49-46, 49-46, 49-46.
The former US President pledged his support for Covington (Zuffa LLC via Getty Images)Covington - who hadn't fought since March 2022 - left the octagon with an American flag draped over his shoulders after giving a "shout out" to Trump while being booed by the crowd. He said: “You can delay us but you can’t deny us. He’s going to make America great again. We need these borders secure, we need inflation down and we need America first again. Donald Trump is the only one that’s going to do that again - Trump 2024!”
After his loss was announced Covington implied that the result was not genuine as he compared it to Trump's 2020 loss in a "rigged election." Trump is known for his love of of MMA and boxing. He was previously seen attending UFC 295 at Madison Square Garden last month again accompanied by Kid Rock and Dana White as well as Tucker Carlson and his son Donald Jr.
Elsewhere on the night a fight broke out in the crowd between fighters Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis with Strickland telling spectators to move out of the way before jumping over the starts and starting to rain down punches on Du Plessis' head. UFC CEO White then helped to separate the pair.
