Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left distracted after spotting Cher "miming" during her performance on the BBC show on Saturday.

The veteran pop star came under fire for lip-syncing, with some furious fans branding her performance 'disappointing'. Last night's anticipated final - which saw Corrie star Ellie Leach lift the Glitterball - was joined by the 77-year-old hitmaker as she sung a track from her new festive single DJ Play a Christmas Song. But it wasn't Cher's song that caught the attention of viewers but rather her attempt at hiding her vocals, according to some people.

Cher pulled out all the stops for the extravagant performance, with backup dancers and confetti taking over the stage. The 'ageless' musical icon wore her blonde hair out and rocked a fabulous jumpsuit and black blazer. However, those at home were immediately 'put off' by the show as Cher didn't appear to be singing her lyrics.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, to share their annoyance, one disgruntled person said: "Cher out of breath miming ffs," a second person added: "Cher lip syncing out of time was not the finale we were after."

A third person wrote: "What the hell is Cher doing! So obviously lip-syncing! I think I could do a better job!" a fourth angry fan said: "Cher miming again but have to say love the song."

However, others believed said how much they enjoyed listening to her new song. Prasing her performance, one viewer said: "Omg I can't stop singing this song to myself around the house. Absolute banger!" Another person wrote: "Cher’s Christmas number 1 looms. Promo on strictly and the Royal Vareity, we can’t fail our ageless Queen #Strictly."

Last night saw Ellie Leach being crowned the winner. The 22-year-old Coronation Street actress lifted the coveted Glitterball trophy with partner Vito Coppola. The star and her pro partner were cheered as they were crowned this year's winners by hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, despite a mistake earlier on leaving her worried she might lose out.

Speaking about her win, a lost for words Ellie said: "I actually, genuinely cannot believe this," as a sobbing Vito said: "Don't talk to me." Ellie added: "This is the first time I have seen him cry, for once you're crying more than me so this is for you, this is for you."

An emotional Vito then said: "I mean this is the cherry on the cake… the point of the iceberg, you have been so amazing, you are Strictly, you represent Strictly. You are the diamond shining... you are amazing, I am so proud."
