Jadon Sancho has been branded a “trouble-maker” and told he would never be wanted by Bayern Munich.

The Manchester United winger hasn’t played for the Red Devils since falling out with Erik ten Hag. Sancho, who joined United from Borussia Dortmund for £73million in 2021 after a hugely successful spell in Germany has been exiled by Ten Hag since a public falling out between the two in September led to Sancho hitting out at the Dutchman on social media.

He was duly banished from first-team training and even first-team areas of the club’s Carrington training ground after refusing to apologise. With his future at the club in serious question, speculation has mounted suggesting a January move could be in the offing for the 23-year-old, as United look to fund a move for RB Leipzig's Lois Openda.

But former Bayern star Mario Basler, who scored against United in the 1999 Champions League final and was a controversial figure in Bavaria during Bayern’s FC Hollywood era, insists he won’t be in the sights of the German powerhouse.

“Bayern are very strict and, when they sign a player, his personality will have to fit in with the club,” declared Basler. “Sancho may be a good footballer but Bayern would not sign him because he’s not what they look for in a person.

“Sancho was already a troublemaker in Dortmund. His attitude is a problem and he has to change it.”

Basler’s opinion on Sancho is in stark contrast to England captain Harry Kane, who joined Bayern in the summer and is enjoying a goal-laden debut season in the Bundesliga. Kane has already struck 18 league goals in just 13 games so far this term, with Robert Lewandowski’s single-season record of 41 in his sights.

Basler, part of the Germany squad who won Euro ’96 on English soil, told The Sun: “Harry will be a Bayern great, one of the best strikers to ever play for the club. He can smash Lewandowski’s record.

“Up front, Bayern are very strong, with Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman and Kane, who is a goal machine.”
