1000-lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton has revealed she found out her husband Caleb Willingham died over text.

The 37-year-old reality TV star met Caleb at the Windsor Lane Rehabilitation Center in Gibsonburg, Ohio. Both Tammy and Caleb were in the rehab centre for weight loss, and just a few months after meeting, they announced their engagement.

The lovebirds tied the knot in a ceremony at the rehab centre in November last year, surrounded by just 30 friends and family members, and the nuptials were officiated by their home care nurse and close friend Billy. But just seven months later, Caleb died at the age of 40, leaving Tammy devastated.

In a new interview, she revealed she had left the facility to continue her weight loss journey at home in Kentucky, and Caleb had stayed behind. Tammy was then informed by a mutual friend that her husband’s health had taken a turn for the worse, and he was gravely ill.

“I was sitting in the foetal position. I got a text message from his friend up there and the text said, ‘Caleb's not doing good. They're in there working on him.’ 20 minutes later he texted me back and said he was gone,” she told People.

The heartbroken star said she was “doing fairly well” since her tragic loss, and decided to keep his memory “encapsulated”in two pieces of jewellery - a ring and a necklace - made from his ashes.

“Knowing that he's with me, it's helping me pass the day. I find myself grabbing my necklace and holding it a lot. When I take off my jewellery, I feel like it's weird, separation anxiety. I start panicking,” Tammy bravely admitted, adding that she watches the show to remind her of happier times when she starts missing Caleb.

On 30 June, Tammy sadly announced that Caleb had passed away, as she called him her “guardian angel” and asked for sympathy. “I am devastated to share the news of my husband’s passing. He was my best friend and I loved him dearly,” she said in a statement.

“When I met Caleb he became my guardian angel and now he really is watching over me. Our families appreciate everyone’s sympathy and ask that you respect our privacy at this time,” Tammy added.
