Jesy Nelson's cryptic lyrics about people 'spreading rumours' in recent track
Jesy Nelson fueled the possibility of a Little Mix feud in one of her tracks which has her singing about people 'spreading rumours' about her.
The singer, 32, shared snippets of her new song on TikTok with fans and her boyfriend Zion Foster. In the video, Jesy and Zion sat in the backseat of a car as she explained: "I'm actually going to play Zion a song he's never heard before and I'm going to get his reaction for the first time."
She proceeded to play the song, which had her whispering the word 'mix' over and over again. In the track, she belted out: "I heard a rumour, you were out there spreading rumours, I know you were. So consumed with knowing what I'm doing and I swear I used to know you like nobody else."
Jesy continued: "So that’s maybe why it hurt me more when you tore me down . . . Tryna paint me like I’m stupid. Honey, you never knew me like I know myself."
The star left Little Mix, which now consists of Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, three years ago. The four women were placed together on the X Factor in 2011. They went on to have huge success with five UK number 1s, sold-out arena shows and sold millions of records.
Celeb Bake Off line-up in full - including Friends legend and Little Mix iconJesy's abrupt exit came in December 2020 and sparked bitter online wars between fans, with reports of infighting between the members coming out. At the time, reports claimed Leigh-Anne, Jade and Perrie found out about Jesy's decision through their lawyers. They were all said to have been blocked by Jesy on social media.
Earlier this year, Leigh-Anne revealed all three members of the group went to therapy when Jesy quit. Leigh-Anne explained: “It was a complex and painful thing to come to terms with. We all felt it, that pain and sadness. The whole thing felt like a weird break-up, and I wasn’t prepared for it.“
Speaking candidly in her autobiography Believe, she added: “I wasn’t prepared for the intensity of those emotions. The whole thing was abrupt and sad and then it was messy, which made it even more painful.” Leigh-Anne wrote: “I’ve been to therapy during the course of my career. When we decided to pause Little Mix, I felt compelled to go back. We all did.
She went on to say they went to therapy before the group's hiatus. The star added: "We were a family, the four of us were like sisters, and we had been that way since we were teenagers, so it’s not an over-exaggeration to say that losing a member was a traumatic experience. When you have felt so much love and support with another person over such a long time and then that suddenly disappears you never fully get to understand why it hurts.”
