Food critic Grace Dent has finally revealed the reason behind her shock decision to quit I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here in ITV's spin-off show.

Grace, 50, who is best known for being part of the BBC cooking show MasterChef, decided to leave the Australian jungle after ten days on medical grounds after finding life in camp far too challenging. But in ITV's spin-off show I'm A Celebrity Coming Out, which follows the journey of all the camp mates, she has hinted that she found a lack of control, having nowhere to hide and living with "divisive characters", too much to handle.

On the show Grace says: "Leaving my campmates and the girls will be the greatest regret of my life." But an show insider told The Sun: "Grace also tells how she found it hard being in camp with people who under normal circumstances, she wouldn't share a sleeping space with - and that includes divisive characters like Nigel."

They added: "She also is expected to lift the lid on the elements she found hard with camp life, including the ‘lack of control’ she felt, and there being ‘nowhere to hide’." But it looks as though Grace has taken her time on the show as a life lesson as she adds that people should:"Take risks, say yes, and the things that you think you can’t do, you can."

Fans started to voice concern for Grace after noticing her pale appearance and downcast demeanor. When hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly joined camp to inform Grace that she would be facing the next trial, she remained uncomfortably quiet.

And she told the camera "I just want to go home." After a replacement was found to take over Grace's trial, ITV issued a statement that read: "Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike."

A show source said at the time: "She is feeling like s**t and just wants to get on the plane and sleep." And another, close to Grace, said they thought the diet of rice and beans "had been a real shock to the system". They added: "She is a food critic so is of course used to trying lots of different things and fine dining and eating when she wants. The camp maybe was harder than she realised going in."

Taking part in the trial was clearly the last straw for the star as she had already been thinking about leaving the show. In a conversation with her fellow campmate Josie Gibson she said: "I’ve had enough. I’ve completely had enough. I just want to go home." And she added in the Bush Telegraph: "I haven’t got a lot left in me at the moment. I’m just keeping on a face for everybody."

Taking to social media fans appeared concerned for her well-being as one wrote: "Someone should check Grace's pulse. That girl does not look well. #ImACeleb." Another added: "Are we sure her jaws have not been wired shut? Never seen her so quiet. #Grace #ImaCeleb". And a third said: "Is grace ok?? Think she needs checking on she looks so deflated #ImACeleb". "Grace looks so sick on #ImACeleb @imacelebrity I hope she’s ok," a fourth penned.
